Yes, Geoff, thanks for sharing that with us! Interesting that you mention, Crackerjack. Someone on YouTube posted a clip of Peter and Gordon performing "A World Without Love" on Crackerjack in 1964. I don't know where he got the tape from, but it gives us hope that not all BBC shows from the sixties were lost forever!

What did Bobby say about Ready, Steady, Go! ?

Bobby had been asked about his knowledge of songs performed on the RSG show by The Hollies between the start of the show and 1966....also when the show started to go out "Live" as "Ready Steady Goes Live".....by someone doing research into the history of the cult sixties show....

I can believe that. Accurate record taking is sometimes a gift in itself. Maybe because guests were subject to change at any time, it wasn't seen as worth the time to document beforehand what everyone was going to sing, and doing it after the fact might have been seen as a waste of time, since they may not have been planning on rerunning the shows. You'd think someone would have thought to write these down, however, I think the BBC magazine TV and Radio Times kept track of the RSG guest stars and performances, because TV.com lists each singer, group, and song done in each episode, if there was an entry for them in TV and Radio Times.

I'd bet it will be the version from Live Hits Rolling Eyes

It should be one with Terry Sylvester singing lead, if they're going by the time period of "Distant Light".

...but this is Magic Records...they have tagged most of Live Hits onto their other reissues and I'd say the chances of a TS lead on LCW would be next to nothing unfortunately.

Yep, it's the Live Hits version of LCW. Superb presentation though, including insert lyric sheet/musician credits - very nice.

Got my copy yesterday. I hope it gets a full EMI reissue with unreleased tracks anyway.

Of course it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that a live version of "Long Cool Woman" should be included that was recorded 5 years later, and not with the man who sang the song in live concerts during the time period of "Distant Light", Terry Sylvester. Two sources that could have been used were from US television; "Midnight Special" and "In Concert", the latter being preferable. Unfortunately, ABC-TV foolishly edited the song in the middle, but it is an exciting live version nevertheless, the best one ever recorded.
