Does anyone else think it's time that the Hollies return to the studio to record a new album....or am I the only one?

And they should get the old pens out and start writing!

Now, that's truly a novel idea. I believe the guys can come up with some catchy hook laden melodies is they put their minds to it.

Judiciously is the key word here. I wish more musicians knew the meaning of it! Wink

Well, I don't know about you but I seem to remember a couple of quite good little numbers from these "young lads". Laughing

They should do another album and the line up is strong it would be a waiste of their talent not to do so.

Yes it IS hightime they did another Studio album....with PROPER instruments....REAL drums, plus guitars and pianos....any synth' work should be used tastefully and spareingly...not creating a "Synth soup" (which sounds so "horribly 80's" now....)

Tony Hicks needs to pick up his pen and create some more of his superb songs again....it's hightime Bobby wrote another Hollies song too...!

Messrs Stiles,Lauri, Howarth & Parker should also get involved in the songwriting.....

It is fine for talented people like, say; Paul Weller, Graham Gouldman, and Roy Wood, etc - TOP songwriters - providing some songs for them....however they really do need to now find their "Own voice" again too....

We can but wait and hope..... Shocked

Geoff,

PROPER is the keyword here. "Synth soup"...love it! And yes, it wreeks of 80's. I'm not even sure why the boys insist on using the synth in the studio. I say leave it for the "live" shows. is it possible the old pen has run dry? I suppose it's not easy to write lyrics that intrigue every listener let alone, words that are memorable. I agree that all the Hollies messrs should do some brainstorming and see what they can collectively come up with. If that's not feasible, they should at least consider utilizing the talents of other "talented people" in the industry. Ah yes, Graham Gouldman ... now that would be interesting matchup. I wonder if there's any connection with him these days. I have a sense he would enjoy hearing from the guys.

Sounds interesting, the setlist hasn't changed much in a while - could be doing with dipping into some more Rickfors era material. Then again, I would say that Wink Laughing

At least they're still doing "The Baby". By the way, is there any video and/or audio of them doing it live with the current lineup or with Carl Wayne?
