A show called "Torchwood" premiers this week on the channel "BBC America."

I just saw a advertisement for it while watching Cash In The Attic.

So, I'd like to ask if anyone here has watched Torchwood, and if so what do you think of it?

Thanks in advance.

I have to admit I have seen Torchwood, for all of the first season. It isn't anything to write home about to be honest, they say it's darker and more sinister than its parent show, Doctor Who, but they aren't exactly the words I would use to describe it. It's worth giving the show a try as it's each to their own but don't hold your breath for anything exciting. Be warned though, sex plays a large role in the storylines so I wouldn't let younger children watch it first-hand.

Like I said though, give it a try and especially before reading any reviews as most of them are quite biased on the matter.

Does this help?

I am a big Doctor Who fan from the days of William Hartnell. The current Doctor Who is great and rates very well on ABC (public broadcaster) here in Australia. As for Torchwood it was picked up by commercial channel 10 and lasted about 4 epsiodes before being replaced. I believe it rated poorly.

Well, the ads look good. I think I'll give it a chance (even though I've never watched Doctor Who)

I'm convinced - this show rocks.

I've now seen four episodes, and it's slick, sexy, and entertaining. I definitely give this show a "thumbs up," even though I sometimes have trouble understanding the accents. Those Welsh sure do talk funny, don't they?

My how times have changed. Here in the US anyway, there used to be something called "the family hour", which ran from 8 to 9 PM, where only mild shows without any references to sex or displays of violence occurred. Last week I saw a portion of the popular "Ugly Betty" show, which aired at 8 PM, and in it there was a blatant reference to a sexual position in the script. I was taken aback at it. So much for the long-gone family hour. Sad.

Since the women here are all drooling and making scenes over the looks of the 1960's/1970's photos of the band, I'll free to chime in on one thing, too, and hopefully not get called out for being sexist:

Even with her gap in the front teeth and carrying at least 10 extra pounds on her, I find the actress who plays Gwen Cooper to be very hot and sexy.

And that Wales accent, which I understand to be authentic, is just crazy. I have to concentrate on it to make out all the words.

I've got nothing against you commenting about an actress you think is attractive, Sparty, but don't act so uptight over us females who think the Hollies are attractive men and aren't too shy to say so. We don't drool over their pictures like hungry dogs at the sight of a T-bone steak. There's no harm being done, and we're going to keep posting and commenting on their photos as much as we want to.

Sorry Vrinda but I couldn't resist.

"We don't drool over their pictures like hungry dogs at the sight of a T-bone steak."

From another thread:

"Apart from having heart palpitations, drooling, falling about the place, laughing uncontrollably, crying uncontrollably and generally being in a tiz, Mr. Clarke has absolutely no effect whatsoever on me"

Continue having fun.

Hey, Terry,

I knew someone would have fun with that, but the second set of statements were Paula's, not mine. I can't speak for her! Laughing

Thanks for the reply! Laughing Laughing Laughing
