I can now further add to the above that The Hollies DID Effectively act as Producers....although Ron Richards was Overall supervising....Thus The Correct credit was probably Something more Like :"Produced By The Hollies", "Executive Producer: Ron Richards"....
Which most likely Explains the Conflicting Production Credits on that Original Hansa Album.....and The Recording Session Listings showing Ron Richards Name. |

Thanks for clarifying this, Geoff. Truly a brilliant few years in the Hollies long career, |

I'm getting back to the original topic. I've heard the CD "Grapefruit Around the BBC" and I am very excited about it. Especially the unknown version of Breaking Up A Dream, which was recorded by Ways And Means (splendid version!) and a few other songs I didn't know. I only have the first album, Around Grapefruit, and I really love it. The change in style between the two albums was a bit unfortunate for me, but I know there are many people who appreciate it.
Anyway, it's great to have Grapefruit Around the BBC, I can only recommend it! |

Yes, it is a fine disc. I personally love the early stuff, but I'm crazy about the rocking "Deep Water" with the second lineup, which I strongly feel The Hollies should have covered when Mikael Rickfors was in the band. I think it would have been a hit. Grapefruit did have a Top 5 hit with it in Holland (which is not mentioned in the liner notes). |
