Yowee! Two previously unreleased Hollies tracks from the Rickfors era will be featured on the upcoming EMI issue of "Romany":
Witchy Woman - has been floating around among collectors for years, but this will be the first legit release of this track, a cover of The Eagles song. The Hollies' rendition isn't much different from the original, but then with Mikael Rickfors singing, it's better.
Papa Rain - Highly anticipated!

That is truly outstanding. Of course, like many people, I have a decent quality mp3 of Witchy Woman. But I've near heard Papa Rain, so this will be a priority purchase!

Good news! Does anyone know who wrote "Papa Rain"?

Dennis, can you provide a link to your source for news of this release? I've just spent a frustrating 15 minutes on EMI's website, and can find nothing on this release.

We won't have to wait long to find out, will we? It will be interesting to hear who sings it, as was customary during the Rickfors era, there was a good amount of sharing of lead vocals among Rickfors, Sylvester, and Hicks. Personally I want it to be a total surprise.

Check Amazon.com (US, not UK)

http://www.amazon.com/Romany-Hollies/dp/B000R9QER2/ref=sr_1_1/104-1386314-7435140?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1184854885&sr=8-1

There's the link.

Great, great tracks - particularly giving us the Terry-sung version of Oh Granny. This is a smart, well done release.

Of course, I'm not going to pay 32 dollars for it, as I'll surely find it cheaper somewhere else. But I will certainly buy this one!

What exactly does a new "2007 remaster" mean to us? Are they saying that engineers in 2007 took the original analog studio tapes and created a new mix? I'm thinking that it's less than that, and that the songs will sound exactly like the previous CD releases.

Great news !!!!
"Witchy Woman" already is a great track by The Eagles. How good it must be as a Rickfors-era Hollies recording.
And "Papa Rain". It must be a good track because it is from a Hollies era where The Hollies did not really record bad tracks at all. There is no single song on "Romany" or "Out On The Road" I don't like.
But it is quite annoying that I have to buy another issue of "Romany" to get those songs. I already have "Romany" as the Magic Records release. A "Rarities, Volume 2" would have made more sense for me. But maybe the sound on this new release will be better than on the Magic Records release. I never was satisfied with the sound of the two Rickfors-era Hollies LPs on the Magic Records release.

Benny, I wouldn't complain - after all, two newly released songs on a new Hollies CD release is at least one more than we usually get. And Terry's version of "Oh Granny" is another song that's pretty hard to find on CD, as well.

And besides, you can always give your current Romany CD away - makes a great gift!
