I've already posted this in the Yahoo group but I'm posting it here too for any who aren't in the group:
On Thursday 26/7/07 7:30PM on BBC4 the Hollies will be shown on the "In Concert" program. According to the description this will be a "vintage" performance! I have no other details but I'm sure this will be an interesting show!
EDIT: Just found out a bit more. The performance was recorded at the television theatre at Golders Green with Arthur Greenslade and his orchestra. First shown in May 1969.
*Just realised I should have probably put this in the "Write On" section - sorry Rob! |

Great for Hollies fans, sadly my DVD recorder is not set up to copy UK Telly.
Gee it's been a great year for Hollies fans, The Dutch Collection, Live DVD and now this. Funny not much in years now all this, if it's the 1969 show then that's when The Hollies do a few Dylan numbers.
All the best,
Anthony |

This would be The show billed as "An Evening with The Hollies" that BBC 2 first transmitted in colour back in May 1969....
it was actually recorded earlier in February 1969 I believe...They do about 14 songs in a 40 odd minute set (if full length) including Hits, Dylan songs from the (then) new "Sing Dylan" set...which was duly just then released in May 1969 to co-incide with this show's transmission, ....thus this concert special probably helped that Album shoot straight up the UK Album chart....(A lesson for today ?),
....plus they sing songs : "A Taste of Honey", "Stewball"...and the non recorded rare song the jazzy "Maybe I'll Settle Down".
As you advise they were backed by The Arthur Greenslade Orchestra for this vintage show.
The concert was performed at Golders Green Hippodrome and was one of Terry Sylvester's first TV appearances with The Hollies....he looks very young and "Fresh faced" with his Beatle hairstyle !
I believe the footage only survives in Black & White (Per "Record Collector" magazine who did a review of this some time back..)...unless a colour version has now been located.
I wrote to the BBC asking if this show...plus ALL the other surviving BBC song performances of The Hollies could be compiled into a "Hollies at The BBC" DVD....they thanked me for the interest...but said NO such plans were made at present (in April 2006)...so this looks to be a promising development indeed ! |

Re above....just dug out my info on this show....The original transmission date was on 3 May 1969
It was promoted by the BBC as "An Evening with The Hollies" but The actual title of the original show was: "Hollies in Concert" and it had been recorded earlier on Sunday 30 March at the Golders Green Hippodrome |

Seems to be a great show but sadly, I can't watch it or record it because I can't receive BBC 4 here in Dortmund, Germany. That's very bad news for me personally |

If this "BBC4" thing is a television station, then PLEASE someone record this and then offer it to the board regulars here - that is, if you can record it digitally and not use a VCR.
I'm pretty sure that folks here will gladly pay your cost plus another couple of pounds sterling to cover your trouble. |

Yes, someone, please do! I, for one, would gladly buy a copy. |
