Hi all,
Don't know how many of you know Billy Thorpe, well he was an Australian rock superstar, had hits in the 60's here with Posion Ivy, the Brook, Somewhere over the Rainbow and in the 70's Most people I know think that I'm Crazy. He lived in the US for 20 years, was born in Manchester sadly died yesterday at the age of 60.
Billy played guitar also on one of Allan Clarke's solo album. He was one of the fittest looking 60 year olds you could ever see, he will be sadly missed.

Sorry to hear that Anthony, but thanks for the word; it might not make any splash in the media over here. Billy Thorpe did get some attention in the US circa 1979 for the "Children of the Sun" suite, and later for "East of Eden".

I will admit that I was never a Billy Thorpe fan but I was stunned Shocked when I heard on Wednesday Morning that he died suddenly in the early hours that morning (about 3am according to a newspaper and the news on T.V). They say that he had a massive heart attack. Sad

There is a memorial concert for Billy at The Sydney Entertainment Center Tomorrow (Sunday).

My sincere condolences go to Billy's wife of more than 30 years Lynne and their 2 daughters.

May he rest in peace through all eternity.

Susie
