Hi,
At one stage I was with the Peter Noone web page. I remember bringing up the subject of Bus Stop, they all seemed to think that HH did a better version.
I think its slow, just shocking really, the Hollies do a brilliant job with this song.
I agree MAKE IT STOP!

Hey Anthony, you know from experience how hard it is to reason with a true blue Noonatic! Rolling Eyes

Those true believers all think Peter/Herman is King Midas in "Forward"...

Hi Bruce,
They thought the Hollies version was rubbish, in the end there was more of them than me, I knew they were all wrong anyway.

I liked it. HH's version is good for their vocal styles. It still sounds very harmonious, not as rocking as the Hollies' version, but in it's own right, a good rendition.

The Hermits' rendition, a sort of baroque pop ballad, is closer to Graham Gouldman's own, found on "The Graham Gouldman Thing" album (also on CD). I also prefer The Hollies' version.

While on YouTube, check out Herman's Hermits doing "Jezebel". Great!

Years ago I heard a story (not saying it's true I add ! ) that the Herman's Hermits version of "Jezebel"....was actually done by Peter Noone (vocal) - with three of The Who ! - Pete Townshend (Lead Guitar), John Entwistle (Bass) and Keith Moon (Drums)....it certainly DOES sound like The Who musically....and on the distinctive backing vocals..!

It's like there is nothing *wrong* with the Hermits' version, it's nice and safe it just doesn't rock. The Hollies version rocks.

Even though I don't like that version of the song, I love most of the Hermits' music and I think Peter Noone is now and always has been a great entertainer. I saw him a couple of years ago on the same bill with Terry Sylvester and Chad & Jeremy. Peter's show was amazing, but what impressed me the most was how he came outside immediately after the show and posed for photos, signed autographs and shook hands until everyone who wanted to talk to him got the chance. Peter is one class act!

Yes, Dennis. I did check out "Jezebel." Great would be an understatement. It's incredible!

Those stories are interesting, Geoff. Where did you hear them? Were Allan and Brian friends?

I remember reading in an old pop paper ("National Rockstar"...long gone now) that Keith Moon was reported to have..."once been delighted to become an "Honorary Hermit !"

Yes Allan Clarke and the others were pals of The Late Great Brian Jones and his bandmates back in those "Beat Boom" days....
