Thanks,
I tried to guess what those things mean and I've succeeded. I added Never Die by the Haigs. I can't understand how this could have been omitted. One of the best songs ever (not only Dutch).

The Haigs are Dutch, but completely unknown in Holland. They had never had a hit or something. A few people might know the beatband, because singer Barry Hay later became leadsinger of The Golden Earring, but that's all I'm afraid.

BTW: In last years Top 60 the Hollies did not have a single song in this chart.

In the commercials on the radio to vote for your favourite 60's song they use the guitarsolo of Look Through Any Window. That's something.

greetings,

Ro-Robert

Thanks for the information. It's a pity they are unknown. As to the charts, I've read in the 60s the Dutch bands had trouble getting into them, the competition was so big.

Oh yeah, the Golden Earring. Sieb Warner from the Motions played with them for a while too. Den Haag was packed with superb bands!

Greetings to Holland

I have two singles by the Haigs and about everything by Golden Earring. Saw them in den Haag this autumn - a fabulous band - in many ways comparable to the Hollies. I was turn on to these groups by the leader of the Dutch Hollies fan club in the late 60s, Jaap van der Ploeg from Delfzyl. Anyone knowing where he is to find now?

Would you believe the Hollies had power to stay by evolution of their style from Buddy Holly ? That's for certain because they follow what goes around, write on and go out on the road. They did it then, they do it now - please do it always.

Hi Knut,
you are ahead of me, again. I've got only two songs by the Haigs and just the first album of the Golden Earrings. But I'm planning to change it.
Good luck with searching.

The week of the 60's is over. No song of the Hollies made it to the Top 60. It seems though that Stop Stop Stop 'nearly made it'.

The best 5 songs of the sixties voted by the listeners of the most popular Dutch radiostation:

1 - Animals: House of the Rising Sun
2 - Procul Harum: A Whiter Shade of Pale
3 - Moody Blues: Nights in White Satin
4 - Boudewijn de Groot: Testament
5 - Simon & Garfunkel: The Sound of Silence

Boudewijn de Groot can be considered as the Dutch Bob Dylan. He has 4 songs in the top 60. 12 songs are by Dutch artists. Quite a lot.

The complete list of this year:

Probably a tricky question, but what is a Sjako?
