The only other song that has made the rounds from this USA TV broadcast is "Carrie Anne", with Hicks on lead vocal, and Terry singing the "you're so, so like a woman to me" part. Elliott does an terrific drum break, in place of the steel drums on the record.
The still missing (on video) songs from this show are "Bus Stop", "He Ain't Heavy..." (both with Rickfors singing lead), and of course "Long Cool Woman" (Terry on lead, and he does an excellent job of it.)

He Ain't Heavy is brilliant (audio), hope the video can be located somewhere.

James,

You probably heard He Ain't Heavy from The Midnight Special, the video for this is circulating in good shape, as is Long Cool Woman from the same show. Ditto the Hollies doing Sandy on it a few years later.

While I am not sure of the source of "origin" of the clip on my copy, the "Midnight Special" 10 August 1973, version of "He Ain't Heavy..." with Mike Rickfors singing Lead Vocal,Tony Hicks on Bass and Bernie Calvert on Organ,is superb !....and the T.V. Version most certainly does survive in colour.

All this chat has encouraged me to put on 'Romany' and 'Out On The Road'. A great period for The Hollies. Cool

I totally agree !,When Bobby Elliott called the Rickfors era a "Bland period for The Hollies",I can only assume he meant in terms of regular hit singles (in the UK...tho' they did have one !).
Certainly "Won't you (we ?) feel good that Morning", or "Slow Down" maybe even "Jesus was..." or "Delaware Taggert..."could have charted

Curious how both the "Rickfors" Hollies and Allan Clarke each never did a UK tour in that period....

It' a story as old as time....as with any new record release, the product MUST be given TOTAL promotion and followed up with touring of some degree. To me it's the hallmark of solid music marketing and an area in which the Hollies should have given greater attention.

As a fan of the Hollies from the early hits, I love Evolution, but I think Romany is my second favourite album by the band. It's got everything in terms of instrumentation and harmonies, but in a very CSN way. Okay, it hasn't got Clarkey, but at the time Clarkey was gone. But Evolution has Clarkey, so all bases are covered.

There's a new/old video on YouTube, of "Too Young To Be Married" played absolutely live this time. Clarke sports the dreaded 'stache (again).

Two new videos from the spring tour added to YouTube:

The nice thing is that these songs are not on the recent DVD by the present line-up.

Thanks for the video clips Knut. I was at the Nottingham show and these clips bring back happy memories of a brilliant evening.
