Although this CD/DVD project is exciting, I still look forward to the day when the Hollies deliver an historic documentary on DVD...interviews with current and former band membes, rare video, and such.

I agree with you James. The band has shown so little regard for ex-members that I can't imagine such a project ever being put on the table. I am content with video material, and I think this release (fingers crossed) will fill a big void.

Let's hope that most of the clips on this new DVD will be just that; new to us, instead of the same UK and German promo clips that have made the rounds for years. I'm thinking that since this is a Dutch release, we may see some Dutch TV performances on there. I'm most excited about "Son of a Rotten Gambler", which I believe did fairly well on the Dutch charts.

Hi Geoff,
I've had a look at www.keymailorder.com and it lists this as a CD+ as opposed to DVD...from the wording, it looks like a CD of the tracks with a DVD of the Hollies live hits...I'd settle for the DVD alone...wonder if they can remove the whistling villain from Boulder to Birmingham and Amazing Grace...?

For info, the product id is 3808742 for those who want to keep tabs on it...

They do say details are "Sketchy" at present.
I have emailed them back to see if they are taking orders yet....
I will advise when I get their reply.

Hi Chirpy ! (great name !)

this would imply a DVD is part of it (they charge £1.50p for posting a DVD,where as a UK Compact Disc alone is £1.00 postage)

Christchurch Town Hall,New Zealand,January 1976 Show :
Re the "phantom whistler"....well they sang "Amazing Grace" over 26/28 January 1976
(so was he there EACH night ??)....while "Boulder" was actually sung every night in the set apparently, but not then included on the resulting "live Hits" album (Shame !).
Hope this is of help.

I can't believe that they only recorded one show. Usually if there are multiple nights of a gig, they record them all and pick the best one. In any case, it is tragic that we can't hear those two songs, which for me would make the set much more appealing. As it is, about the only songs that are really noteworthy are "He Ain't Heavy.." and "Too Young to be Married", both of which, I think, are more emotional than the studio versions.

Hi Dennis,
I hope your right and they have some new clips of the old songs, I'm sure most have seen the videos from the Beat Club etc. In the end it's just great people are putting these DVD's together.
The only clip I hadn't seen from the "He Ain't Heavy" DVD was The Air that I Breathe, I felt it was well worth the money just for that song.
