Hi Lawrence Exclamation

When The Hollies recorded Stay the lineup was as follows:

Allan Clarke--Lead Vocals
Graham Nash-- Rhythm Guitar and Vocals
Tony Hicks--Lead Guitar and Vocals
Eric Haydock--Bass Guitar
Bobby Elliott-- Drums (I think) or it could have been Donald Rathbone Question

Hi Lawrence,
In an old tour programme I have, it says Stay was recorded October 11th 1963 and Bobby had just taken over from Don.
Hope thats a bit more info for you.

Aye Susie Very Happy It was Clarke,Nash,Hicks,Haydock, and Elliott. It was the first time it had been known for a bass drum to be miked up for a recording session. Bob managed to talk the engineer into this after standing him a wee dram or two. The nineties version is much more exiting featuring Clark,Hicks,Coats,Stiles,Elliott and Parker. A real knockout bootleg exists from the days when they started the show with 'Stay'.

Hi Gordon Exclamation

Thankyou for your info, I read somewhere thay Donald Rathbone played on only 3 Hollies songs so I just took a wild guess when I said that Bobby played on stay.

Well my first favourite song is LCW. Everytime I hear it on the radio it brings a smile to my face, I just feel like singing, when I'm in the car I wind the windows up put it on loud and sing, Saturday night I was down town, I can't hear any singing.

My first favourite song was Jennifer Eccles because it was the first song that got me interested in The Hollies and I love listening to it as much now as I did then.

"Blowing in the wind" was the first one I heard during holidays. The son of our hosts practised sax playing with that song, played it a couple of times, and I fell for that voice!!! But just came back to it when the Hollies were on German tv in 1976 and on tour a bit later on, start of a good (and crazy) time

I used to have two favourite songs: Bus Stop and Sorry Susainne. The last one I'd heard on the radio and fortunately recorded it at once. I never heard it on the radio since then Sad But it is still one of my faves!

Goodness,

What a hard question Question

I have to dig out "The Hollies Greatest Hits" record album. Very Happy The one with all the cool English art that correspondes to the songs. This was my first. My Christmas gift from Aunt Bonnie that started this 30 + year Hollies obsession. Twisted Evil

Oh My, so well worn, so listened to, each and every song Exclamation

I guess if I have to choose I would choose LCW, but Carrie-Anne, Dear Eloise, and Stop, Stop, Stop, are close behind as well Very Happy Exclamation

Bye,

Shari
