Hi every one. I am looking for a copy of the song "This Is It" I am looking for it on 45 or 12" record as I do not have a copy of the B side that came with it "You gave me strength" I do have it on CD but do want the 45 or 12" record so I can add it to my collection. I'm not sure if it was released on a 7", but I remember having the 12" back in 1987. I thought "This is It" wasn't! The flipside didn't "give me strength" either. That wasn't the best decade for the band musically, that's for sure. For me, I only like about a half dozen tracks they did in the '80s, and even less in the '90s. "Purple Rain" is definitely NOT among them. |

Hi Ray
'This Is it' did come out here in Australia with 'Reunion Of The Heart' on the other side - it was a double 'A' side 7" or 45 record and I love both songs and play them all the time. Both those songs are also on the Long Road Home 6CD boxed set.
You could try the Ebay or Amozon websites, they might have 'This Is It'.
I know that you live in New Zealand but there is a import shop called Redeye in Sydney which I got many of my 60's Hollies albums from including The Long Road Home boxed set and Allan Clarke's 'I Wasn't Born Yesterday' and 'Heroes and Survivors' CD's from . Anyway here is the Website for Redeye.
www.redeye.com.au
When you access the site just type in the word 'Hollies' in the box and click on search or press enter, you will then see an alphabetical listing and prices of all Hollies records, CD's etc. If they don't have 'This Is It' or any other Hollies product you might like, you can put in an order for it and they will try and get you a copy.
Hope this helps.

Hi Susie
Thanks for that. Yes I did buy a copy of "Reunion of The Heart" When I was visiting Wellington back in 1987. But have never seen a copy of "This Is It" in New Zealand. I constantly check Ebay and Amazon for copies of this record but they seem to be very rare and not many get listed for sale or bidding. We used to have a good second hand record shop here in Christchurch where I could buy rare and hard to find records but they got taken over by another franchise and now can't seem to be bothered with records much I will take a look at "Redeye" thanks again.

Cannot stomach Prince AT ALL, not even a cover version. |

I find some of his stuff pretty good - he's a great guitarist. It's his ego that is ten times taller than he is! |

The question of Prince's height was posed on his website www.prince.org. Here's the answer that was given.
It is believed he is 5'2" (157cm) tall, but it's kind of hard to know for sure since he's always wearing those heels! |

I can't get beyond the outsized ego, and for what? Total turn-off. And all this pretentious "the artist formerly known as Prince" garbage. Who cares?
I read that the only reason The Hollies did PR was because Allan Clarke's child liked the song. I find that bit of inspiration uninspired. |

I happen to like "This Is It," although I think that the song would have been much stronger if Tony hadn't pinched the guitar from Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot."
I'll check my collection tonight to see if I have an extra copy. I don't play my vinyl often any more, now that I have everything on CD, so I don't recall exactly what I have. |

Hi everyone
Thanks for all the suggestions and help offered by everyone regarding "This Is It" I have now managed to get a 7" copy of this single so I do not need to look anyfurther. By the way i enjoyed the discussion on Prince as well. For the record I happen to like the Hollies version of "Purple Rain"

I remember the Hollies sang Reunion of the Heart in concert here in '87, sadly they didn't sing This is it. I did buy the single and I can remember how thrilled I was to find it in the shops.
Hope you have some luck and find a copy, I have seen a copy on ebay a few times with Tony, Bobby and Allan all looking a bit grim on the cover. I don't have a copy with the picture cover sad to say. |

Yes, the cover picture showed the three looking quite somber, maybe because they needed a hit but in their hearts knew that "This wasn't It". |

There is a new record store in Paraparaumu, New Zealand, which sells a lot of 45's of the Hollies, including This Is It.
