You'll have to forgive me, I'm not that up to date with recent Hollies events as Carl Wayne was still in the band when i last saw them live. Obviously, i know that Peter Howarth is the new lead singer, however i've seen a couple of videos of the Hollies on YouTube where the singer has a mohican and doesn't look that much like Peter ..... so my question is, was there another singer used (briefly) in between Carl and Peter ?? Look at the Here I Go Again performance on YouTube if want to judge for yourself ?? |

I can't find the footage you are refering to.. Ian Parker (keyboards) has a mohican but I don't think he sings lead on anything.
I see that there is some recent footage of Eric Haydock on there too.
This is a very interesting site. I first came across it a couple of weeks ago after being referred to it from another band's website. Can any of the footage be downloaded and saved to your PC? Any ideas? |

The chap with the mohican is Ian Harrison who covered the lead singer role when Carl was originally taken ill in 2003 - the below can be found here on Rob's site :

Monday, January 6th 2003
The Hollies have just completed two fantastic shows in Germany with Ian Harrison standing in for Carl Wayne who continues to get back to full fitness.
Ian will also be appearing with the band at the forthcoming concert in Friedrichshafen, also in Germany.
An accomplished singer, Ian is a member of London based band, “Backstreet Soul” and enjoys a successful career both as a backing singer and lead vocalist. He has sung alongside (and behind) Nik Kershaw, Seal, Daryl Hall, Lulu, Jimmy Nail and Manfred Mann's Earth Band as well as the infamous Spinal Tap.
Carl is very much looking forward to returning to the stage for the rescheduled dates of the Spring Tour.

As for youTube, here is a copy of what I posted on the Yahoo site (where the question was originally asked...). Anyone interested in obtaining mp3s or wmvs of the Capital Gold Legends Live concert can find details of how to do it on the Yahoo site as well - again, where the question was first posed...I think! :

Folks,
The latest in the 'Chirpy tries to be technological' postings :
Hi John,
I'm not too familiar with the previous posts about youtube but I've
managed to ascertain the following. If any of it has been mentioned
in previous posts, then apologies for the repetition.
Also, if this doesn't answer the question itself, then either more
apologies!
First thing I did was to download an flv player – flv being the file
type that youtube videos are (or can be) saved as.
I downloaded the player from "http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3000-
2139_4-10505954.html?tag=pdp_prod" – you will get warning messages
about the site not being verified, or trusted. I downloaded it and
it is fine on my PC, but I can't take responsibility for anyone else.
Once you have this player, you need to get the flv files onto your
hard drive.
There are two methods I found.
1) Open/play the youtube video. Once it has played, (and the
following is based on the Internet Explorer browser), go to Tools…
Internet Options…Settings (under Temporary Internet Files section)…
View Files – then locate the flv file you want, and then copy/paste
to desired spot on your hard drive
2) Go to http://feelingtea.com/decode/google/index.php and paste
the link to the video in the DOWNLOAD VIDEO FROM Youtube.com box.
For example, if you find the version of Hey Willy by the boys in
youtube, right click on the title, e.g. The Hollies – Hey Willy and
select Copy Shortcut. Then paste this into the box mentioned above
and click on Download from youtube.
You can choose a nice name to save it as, e.g. heywilly.flv
Double clicking on the new nicely named flv file should then play it
in your nice new flv player.
Hope this a) makes sense and b) answers the question you asked
Give me a shout if I can confuse/assist further!
Cheers,.
Chirpy
...Ends
Hope this helps...

It's a great site. They've got lots of Hollies videos (www.youtube.com) like Hey Willy, He Ain't Heavy or Here I Go Again.
I don't know if you can store them on your PC, I'd like to know that, too.
Wasn't there a guy called Ian Harrison who performed with them on some shows, didn't he have a mohican? |

Thanks for the quick replies guys ..... it's a pity that the only recent videos that i found on YouTube were with this Harrison guy and not with Carl or even Peter as i thought the guy was very average ..... but then again if someone as good as Daryl Hall uses him, i guess he can't be that bad .... but certainly not suited to the Hollies !! |
