Reading an earlier posting by Chirpy about the R & J Stone show in 1976 prompted me to find out what Pete Wingfield is doing now.

For those whose memories don't go as far back as the seventies, Pete used to play keyboards and synthesizers for the Hollies from the mid to late seventies.

I've discovered that Pete is still touring and is now a member of Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes.

He has changed a lot in the last 30 years as you can see on their website - albertleeandhogansherors.com

In 1999 he has played on the "Run Devil Run" album by Paul McCartney.

I remember seeing him interviewed on a piece about record production a few years back - think he worked with a couple of new wave/punk bands, and Dexy's Midnight Runners if I'm not mistaken.

To be honest, I think he spoiled the band's sound to a certain extent. The squawky synthesizer he used is very intrusive on some of the songs. I didn't like most of "Another Night" for that reason. And live with Wingfield it was even worse. Give me a regular organ or piano sound any day.

The only criticism I'd have of Wingfield's playing was the very harsh synthesiser tones used on the live album - in particular on the middle section of 'Another Night' and during most of 'Star'. Far too up front. Otherwise, I thought he was excellent.

Was it not Tony Hymas who played Moog (which belonged to the McCartney's) on Another Night - I think Pete just joined for the Another Night tour and stayed for touring/albums subsequently Question
