Does anyone know why The Hollies never come here?

They played there with Carl a few years back - seems that the shows were a resounding success!

To put it mildly, James! Those American shows in 2002 certainly changed my life.... Laughing

Butterflybye, the closest they got to you was a couple of shows in Hull, Quebec in early August of that year. Considering you are in Alberta, though, perhaps the July 30th show in Kearney, Nebraska was actually closer.

Could it possibly be that The Hollies are coming to this year's Taste of Minnesota? That's an annual event held in St Paul (Harriet Island to be exact) over the 4th of July weekend. They haven't put out an official schedule, but take a look at this year's logo:

Oh, please let this be true. Please, please, please!

Interesting... also interesting in the logo is the misspelling of Peter Noone's name, LOL.

I should check with my brother, who works for the Star-Tribune, see what he can find out. The band does have a rather short gap between a June 27th show in Berlin and the July 8th gig in Knutsford, UK. Not enough time for more than a few gigs over here.

Maybe it is to somehow make up for the monsoon-cancelled 2002 show at Lumberjack Days in Stillwater!

It matters not to me, I'll be halfway across the country (although there is a bit of a Hollies connection with that trip).

But I know a young lady in Nebraska who will go absolutely nuts if this is true. Razz

Jepp5,

I have the 'paper boy' (my brother) on the case...hopefully he can find out a little ahead of the curve if there is any truth about The Hollies appearing at A Taste of Minnesota. Seems unlikely, but I saw what you saw. Shocked

I grew up in St. Paul and returned to attend the U of M...so I remember Harriet Island well!

My brother worked for the Red Wing paper decades ago, and got married there. Is Leo Dressen's Hay Creek Saloon still in existence? His reception was held there...MUCH champagne consumed... Rolling Eyes

That does not sound familiar. I don't know the bar scene real well, but that is not ringing any bells for me.

I agree that it does seem unlikely that The Hollies would be coming to the Taste, but... Perhaps the boys want to make up for that soggy Lumberjack Days?

I have never actually seen the Hollies in concert. Although I did see Terry Sylvester a couple years ago.

The Hollies were announced as coming to the Ohio State Fair in 2002 - there was a fairly substantial blurb about them on the State Fair's website.

Then, all of sudden they were no longer listed on the site, and that was the end of it. I have no idea why they didn't appear, but I can tell you that I was plenty peeved.

Yes, I just saw that today. I thought the Hollies coming over here was a little too good to be true. But I love Terry Sylvester! Probably my second favorite Hollie of all time. (Next to Allan Clarke.)

So I can't complain. A free Terry Sylvester concert sounds pretty good to me.

The way he is billing himself or being billed on A Taste of Minnesota's site, however, may not go over too well with certain parties!

http://www.tasteofmn.org/june30th.html

"Terry Sylvestor (sic) & The Hollies".

Wonder if Eric is coming over to playing bass? Rolling Eyes

Thanks Bruce for the link,
Terry Sylvester & the Hollies, now that's a very strange sort of name to call his act.
Somehow I don't think the Hollies will be his back up band on this show. But it sure is a nice thought of Terry being in the Hollies again.

It's a strange billing in more ways than you think, since I believe that Terry's act is a one-man acoustic show.
