Does anyone know why Alan Coates left the band, & what he's doing now?

I find it very strange that he was in the band for close to quarter of a century, yet there wasn't even an announcement from The Hollies' management about him quitting.

Apparently it was to concentrate on his extra-curricular activities...

Presumably they hadn't planned on making another album yet...

Bet he's kicking himself now! Embarassed

The report is that his Voice and Music production company got several lucrative contracts, and it had gotten to the point where he could not serve both masters.
Or so the story goes...

I think Alan is likely doing quite well for himself.

Let's hope so.

I still think The hollies' &/or their management could've made an official announcement though. 23 years of service is a long time.

I remember reading somewhere that The Hollies weren't too happy with Alan because he decided to leave the band just as they started their 2004 Autumn tour (he only performed one concert of that tour) and they had to rush to find a replacement . So apparently that is why The Hollies or their management never made an announcement or wished Alan well.

I agree Peter, some sort of announcement still should have been made concidering all those years that Alan was with the band.

Best Wishes

Susie

This is intriguing - I haven't heard this story before. You would think he would have to service notice of some sort?

Unless they had some sort of argument & he just walked out? Whatever, I hope they're all friends now. There's too many ex-Hollies who don't speak to each other (alledgedly!).
