The 2005 Hollies press release makes mention of the Hollies decision to postpone a US tour in order to work on their forthcoming album "Staying Power". Are we in the US to assume that plans were already drawn up to tour? If so, what were the venues they booked? Will there be a 2006 or 2007 US tour to help market the new album? |

Whenever you talk about the Hollies crossing the ocean to visit here, you simply must take a "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude. It's less painful that way. |

They came over and ended up playing five US shows (the first gig in Minnesota was cancelled due to rain; I'm still wringing the water out of a few items) in 2002, after a nineteen-year hiatus. Plus another two or three shows in Canada.
Do the math... |

Hey, Brandy. I was at that same ill-fated concert in Minnesota. The worst rainstorm I remember in years! Yikes! I agree. I am still wringing out a few clothes.
That was my second failed attempt at seeing The Hollies in concert. The first came about 20 years before when I was visiting New York City, but (long story, short version) a friend got me tickets to a Broadway show the very night The Hollies were playing.
I finally did get to see Terry Sylvester in concert in Morden, Manitoba, in August of 2004. My one and only time seeing a member of the group in person. But I did manage to get his autograph! |

Hi Jepp5,
The irony is that a few hours later, by the time the band would have been going on, I remember seeing the setting sun and clear blue skies at my brother's house in Minneapolis...the only thing "stormy" at that point was my mood!
Despite the tease of a lengthy soundcheck at Stillwater, I could not accept "failure" so gracefully, LOL. Two days later, after leaving a few items outside to dry up in the Iowa sun during the interval day, I finally saw them in Nebraska. And Massachusetts and Connecticut. And Germany and England... |
