The new album is set for release in February just before the Spring tour gets underway.

It will be called "Staying Power" and will feature all new songs.

Great news Rob, just in time for my birthday. Hope you will give us details at the time where we can buy this new album. My favourite import record shop has closed down.
Many thanks
Anthony

I know I and other people from the forum have asked this question a thousand times but now as you already know when the album is supposed to be released and what is is called can you tell us if there is selfwritten material on the album, Rob?

James

You are so down on the band at times and about the future release of the studio album.

You don't seem able to appreciate the talents of anyone concerned.

Perhaps you could wait until you have heard the songs before commenting. If you then don't like them, that is your choice but at least give them a listen. You may even like a track or two.

However, if you don't, I'll buy the album back off you so you are not out of pocket.

This is going to be the first all-new Hollies album since "What Goes Round" in 1983! 22 years we've waited and to dismiss the album before even hearing it is absurd. We should be rejoicing and celebrating the fact that after all this time we'll actually have some new material to listen to - of course we'd like original material and I'm sure there'l; be some in there, but what does it matter?

I'm sure we'll all agree its a shame we never got a final album with Allan Clarke or one with Carl Wayne - that to me is a real shame. So, lets rejoice and look forward to the new album!

Hi Bruce,
Yes Gaslight has closed it's doors. Can you imagine how sad that was for me. My boss is happy, he now thinks I will give him a full days work , Wrong, I have found another great record store in the city. Over the years I got most of my Hollies cd's from Gaslight, the last buy was the What goes around cd.
Getting back to the new Hollies cd, I'm really looking forward to it, I'm pleased it's all new material, maybe at a later date me might get a concert cd with this line up doing a few of the old Hollies classics, but for now I'm like a little kid and all I can think about is the new "Staying Power" cd. Thanks lads,
Anthony

Hi Baz,
l agree we would have loved one last Allan Clarke album, a Carl Wayne Hollies album is what we were all after, sadly it didn't happen, that's life not much we can do about it.
I'm just so happy I can add another studio album to my Hollies collection, I bet it's going to be a great album,
Bye,
Anthony

I wouldn't so much say that I'm 'down' on the band, Rob, more simply just rather cynical. I don't hold the band on an elevated pedestal: there have been plenty of opportunities for the band to release new material in the past decade or so and very little has resulted. Countless warnings about gigs being recorded for possible live release in the 90's (I even believe one was filmed) and NOTHING. Then, after the legend that was Clarkey, we had Carl - a legendary singer also. One poorly-chosen track resulted (Paul Bliss has produced a lot better than HWIS). Now, I really consider the band (whilst they will doubtless be proficient enough musicians, certainly TH and BE) to be almost along the lines of a session/revival band.

I don't know whether I am picking it up wrong, but being condescending will not change my opinion of this. I will probably give the new songs a listen at some point, but in the meantime, I'll watch developments with interest. Particularly the announcement of the tracklist, writing/producing credits and maybe some MP3 snippets. There just appears to be some bloodless commercialism about it, (that is if some half-decent promotion is done and something gains media attention). And all this on the day the Rolling Stones set about their 150,000th world tour.

The great thing about a forum is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion without censorship. I know just as many people who agree with me as will probably disagree. What we have to ask ourselves is 'Is this a worthy contribution to the Hollies recorded catalogue, nearly 43 years down the line?'. Not merely an attempt to recapture youth, sound pathetically contemporary or milk fans - which has happened with albums produced by other artists. I'm afraid 'Staying Power' will need to be something incredibly special to be respected by a number of fans. However, just as many will probably love whatever is released, c'est la vie...

James

Hi Rob and Everyone Exclamation

The Hollies releasing a new album is the best news I have heard for quite some time. Very Happy 2 weeks ago I had an operation on my left elbow Sad and hearing this fantastic news just cheered me up. Smile I love the title Staying Power and i for one will buy it if it gets released in this part of the world. It is a shame it can't come out in December in time for my Birthday, it would also be the perfect Christmas present for any dedicated Hollies fan like myself who loves collecting anything Hollies. Very Happy

Best Wishes

Susie

Hi all,
A guy at work said they were talking on the radio about the new Hollies album.
So the word is out, great news. Is there any news about the album, is it still on track to be out in Feb, I really hope so.
Bye,
Anthony
