Recently there has been a lot of conversation about the Hollies returning to Abbey Road Studio to record new music. My take is that if it's mentioned in the 2005 Press Release it is more than likely going to happen. Does anyone have an idea or have you possibly heard when this might take place? Thanks!

The website NEWS states "The Hollies are currently rehearsing some fantastic new songs that may lead to the release of a new album later this year." There's that operative word again "may". If the Hollies are to release a new album than someone needs to make an official announcement. If they are merely rehearsing new material that "may" be recorded on a new album there's that unending feeling of uncertainty that prevails. Can someone please offer a more definitive answer? Mind you, I'm not trying to be harsh. I'm merely saying as a longtime Hollies fan, I continually have my hopes raised only to have them dashed again. Thanks!

No is the answer to that question. It will happen when and if it happens.

You can rest assured that when the time does come an "official announcement" will be made and I will be only too pleased to advise you when they are in the studio recording.

At the moment they are rehearsing some excellent new material with a view to recording a new album if the material turns out to be right and there is enough of it.

Like always, we will have to wait and see. Keep watching this space.

Hi Rob!

Do you know if they are rehearsing any selfwritten songs or just songs by outside writers?

Lets hope the Hollies do something this time, when Carl joined there was the same sort of talk going on. Don't let another chance pass by lads.

If the guys do record and release a new album, I'll be first in line to purchase it. Smile

Best Wishes

I'm afraid I'll need more convincing... Self-written or collaborations with outside writers sounds good...songs by what's his face from Mud - eeek! Confused

Why so cynical - "Whats his face from Mud" has topped the charts recently with a rather famous young lady.

Is that not good enough?

In the words of a write up on Rob Davis, "If it's good enough for Kylie..."

If you have not read it, there is a link from the News Page.

Heck, the lads cranked out an album's worth of new material every six months or so back in the day.

If new material is too much to ask for, why not give us AT LEAST a "rarities part 2" release, as there's certainly enough material still in the can from the glory days.

I'm afraid that the Hollies and Kylie Minogue are in slightly different leagues. I thought that 'Cant Get It Out Of My Head' was possibly the most banale irritating song I'd heard in a very long time. They can do better than that. With whatever they record, let's face it they wont probably chart, so I don't see why they should go down the ultra-commercial route. We'll see how it all pans out.

Right James!

"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" was horrible!!!
I hope that they won't record anything like that! They shouldn't try to be too commercial! Beside selfwritten material I hope for some ROCK songs and not just soft-pop and ballads. But I look forward to any kind of album... I just hope that it turns out alright!

Define "the guys."

The problem is that a shell called "The Hollies" with songs brought in as "new" material doesn't sound very appetizing. I believe McCartney tried this with Eric Stewart on Press to Play... but at least Paul was still in control.

I'm not terribly interested is a Hollies Cover Band LP of outside material.
