| Ive noticed a few have listed 'Manfred Mann's Earth Band' as one of their favorites! Most people who know MM, only know him from the 60's-Mighty Quinn etc. He did assemble quite an eclectic lineup(s) of musicians throughout the 70's/80's They were one of the forerunners of the prog movement along with VAN DER GRAF GENERATOR NEKTAR CARAVAN PFM ETC, but were relegated to only being known for the Springsteen hit, 'Blinded By the Light.' Highly recommed the Live Budapest lp (from 1983) with the ever venerable CHRIS THOMAS fronting the group and of course the 1974 classic, 'Solar Fire', with ANOTHER Springsteen hit, 'Spirits in the Night'. MMEB rarely toured in the states and we had seen them in 1976(!) as support for BLUE OYSTER CULT!!! |
