...and guess what, no sign of The Hollies...
I found the link via the Rush message board where they are all up in arms too. In saying that, there are a few CSN&Y entries. But, honestly, I ask you - Like A Rolling Stone the greatest song of all time? Who are they trying to kid...

A debate that would never end...
I have a most valued song in my collection that was inspired by the Animals' "House of the Rising Sun", and which in turn was the musical inspiration for "Like a Rolling Stone". A brilliant tune by UK native Ian Whitcomb called "This Sporting Life", which was unfortunately only a minor hit on the US West Coast in early '65. But it is well known that producer Tom Wilson heard and was influenced by Whitcomb's double keyboard sound as he prepared for the Dylan "Highway 61 Revisited" sessions.
Very few things are original, most songs are variations on an earlier theme. |

I can remember the Hollies singing 'Like A Rolling Stone' in concert way back in 1967, with Allan Clarke wearing a red velvet suit.
It just shows though, I can remember as far back as 1967 but I have trouble remembering what happened last week!! |
