In the October 1972 (wow thirty two years ago!) in the 'back pages' of the highly renowned CIRCUS music mag was a small article on the Hollies when MIKEAL was in the line-up. Heres how it read:
There's been a lot talk around London about what the Hollies are going to do when go on a tour of the states this OCtober. Long Cool Woman and the album it was pulled from-'DISTANT LIGHT' didnt do anything here(England), but were huge chart successes in AMERICA. Now, the group will have to go on the road and play these songs without ex-lead vocalist
ALLAN CLARKE:THE VOICE. Lead Guitarist TONY HICKS reveals that the new policy is really simple: TERRY SYLVESTER will sing all of the established hits and the new HOLLIE MIKAEL RIKFORS will sing the new material from TOUCH and the band's other big hit song, "He Aint Heavy...'But Terry will be saddled with the heaviest burden of all- singing 'LONG COOL WOMAN' In the meantime, ALLEN CLARKE is getting ready to go out on the road with his new band so that he can properly plug his new album, My Name is 'Arold' (End of article) Some nostagia for the old folk-(who's old here anyway, not while listening to the Hollies youre not!) Interestingly too on the same page was an article about the MOVE: THE MOVE ARE THE MOVE ARE THE MOVE |
