On last Sunday's Sounds of the Seventies programme there is another interview with Allan.
(bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0007pk4). Allan starts speaking after "Long cool woman in a black dress", app. 1 hour 15 minutes from the beginning of the broadcast.
Two items of the conversation were very interesting - the programme host Johnny Walker and Allan seemed to agree that when Terry joined the Hollies their harmonies were as good if not better than Crosby Stills and Nash.
In the last few minutes the talk was of a possible reunion of Allan and Graham, and Johnny said they couldn't tour as the Hollies because "somebody else owns the name". He then went on to says that no original members are in the current band. Allan quickly explained that in a previous interview he had said that, but he had been referring to the guys who made the first appearance as the Hollies in December 1962. He then graciously apologised to Tony who he said is on every record the Hollies ever made and is definitely an original! |
