We planned a holiday in Devon and Cornwall which happened to tie in with 2 Hollies concerts in that area - what a coincidence!!
Both concerts were great. Everyone seemed happy - the band and the audience.
There were some new things introduced in the set list this time which I enjoyed. A new opening with a few bars of King Midas. It was good to hear Gasoline Alley Bred in full. After Peter had sung Priceless (a song written by Peter and Bobby) on his own, he went straight into I Can't Tell The Bottom From the Top - his solo to start with then the band came back to join him on stage to do a cracking rendition of the song. Also Stop In The Name Of Love was included in the second half which was nice to hear again.
Bobby told the Truro audience the story behind the title of the live Hits CD 'We Got The Tunes'. Tony was shopping in Waitrose near his home in Henley-On-Thames where he saw Liam Gallagher. Liam apparently shouted across the aisle 'Love your band, man. You got the tunes'. Can you imagine that - Liam Gallagher shopping in Waitrose!
2 hours flew by and it was time for the finale when Peter got the crowd singing along to Long Cool Woman. Two great nights!

Thanks for the reviews John. I'm extremely envious, that would have been great to see The Hollies in Devon and Cornwall, sigh! I would like to have heard I Can't Tell the Bottom From the Top, especially with the whole group singing it. I think that's my favourite Hollies' song (I keep changing my mind!) |
