On Sunday it was finally the day of the Vostertfeesten in Bree, Belgium.
We left home at 2 p.m. and arrived at the venue around 3 p.m. The first band we saw was Mud II. It was a great performance with all their hits. After a short break came the Tremeloes. Lots of songs from the sixties but I think the choice of their songs wasn’t so good. Lots of songs people didn’t recognize, so that’s always a pity.
After another break came Slade, it was never a favorite band and I still don’t like their music very much. Much too loud for me.
And then finally at 8.15 p.m. (10 minutes too late) came The Hollies. That was the moment I have been waiting for; I had a good view on the stage so I could see all the guys.
They started with The Day That Curly Billy Shot Down Crazy Sam McGee followed by I Can't Let Go, Sorry Suzanne, On a Carousel, Jennifer Eccles, a great version of Weakness, Bus Stop, I'm Alive, the acoustic version of the great song Sandy, Look Through Any Window, The Baby, Carrie Anne, Stop! Stop! Stop!.
Then they started with He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, it brings back lots of memories because we played that song on my brothers funeral on my request last year, so I felt the tears in my eyes again.
After that came I think the most popular song of the Hollies The Air That I Breathe.
And it all ended with Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress. I don’t know how long they have been on stage for it fells for me much too short.
After another break there was a performance of the Sweet, but after two songs we left. After the Sweet there would be another group a tribute band of ELO. Although we like the music from ELO very much it would be too late to wait for them. It was already 10.30 p.m. and we had to get up 6.15 a.m. next morning. So I spend yesterday with lots of good memories of Sunday and a bit pain in my back and legs. The result of standing for hours.
Thanks guys for the wonderful show and I hope to see you very soon in the near future.
Love from Mol (Belgium) Mieke Very Happy
PS I missed the mechandise Rob ??????

I also thought The Hollies concert was great !
Good sound and music, good atmosphere, good crowd.
It seemed The Hollies enjoyed their Belgian concert.
Thanks !
