Not sure where you got your information from but it is not correct. EMI have not imposed any such postponement. The date is definitely 7th May.

Today is the start of promoting the CD. See Johns link above and the one you should get in an email shortly.

For a preview or to enter into a competition........
Look Here

But, according to Amazon.co.uk the set has been postponed until July. They've even sent e-mails to people who preordered to express their apologies over the postponement.

Thanks Phil

Amazon UK is certainly now promoting the 7th May so not sure where it has come from.

If you received an email from them, can you forward it on to me please.

Amazon.co.uk has now changed the release date back to May 7th, so that error obviously originated in-house at Amazon.

As for the e-mail from Amazon.co.uk, I deleted it, so I no longer have it.

When I first read your post about the delay, Phil, I had a look at Amazon UK site, which did indeed give a release date in July, but as you say, it has now reverted back to May. Confused

YouTube ad for the new CD, featuring sound bits is now announced on the main site. Here is the direct link, thanks to Carrie Anne.

Brilliant CD. Well worth the wait.

The quality is excellent and at times you feel you could be listening to the record.

Clarity of vocals is pure heaven and takes me right back to my teenage years and the early days of the band.

As a drummer myself (long ago), Bob's drumming is out of this world. Listen to Set Me Free, just the drumming! You get to understand what Bob talks about in the liner notes!

Have been playing the CD non stop now for 4 days, it's fantastic.

Hope you have yours ordered If not, get it here.

The band performances are excellent of course

There are a number of other BBC tracks that are also well up to standard such as:
'We're Through' (Sept 1964)
'Mickey's Monkey' (April 1965)
an alternate version of 'Shake !'
Tony Hicks solo vocal on 'Pegasus' (May 1968)
a good 'King Midas in Reverse' (complete with accompaniment)
Sorry Suzanne - BBC Session 18 October 1969 (probably sung over original backing track)
a 25 July 1971 BBC version of 'Long Cool Woman (in A Black Dress)' - probably utilising the original backing track but with an alternate mix less 'echo' on Clarke's voice & a longer ending...
A BBC version of 'What A Life I've Led' from 1971 also exists...

and the rare non EMI song 'Reelin' & Rockin' (1964) though the versions of that apparently have alot of tape hiss so whether that could be 'cleaned up' and utilised on any future set remains unclear (is Paul Hicks busy ?).

Despite being titled 'Radio Fun' this set nevertheless includes a few welcome specific BBC TV performances...thus the 1973 'Shepherds Bush' version of ' The Day That Curly Billy Shot Down Crazy Sam McGee' (not the recorded version - watch it on TOTP2) is viable for future use.

also the earlier BBC Televised Golders Green Hipprodrome concert, February 1969 songs most notably the rare Non EMI track; 'Maybe I'll Settle Down' would be eligable for any follow up volume, while more sixties BBC sessions (with Graham Nash) exist.

whatever, this set is long overdue and for certain.... most welcome.

Absolutely priceless. Previously said listen once, then file under nice to have, or something similar. I was wrong Certainly has done a lot more for me today than the arrival of The Beatles At the BBC all those years ago. Star of the show Sir Bobby. He's all over the place. Buy this immediately. It's the ultimate proof that these guys are up there with the best and probably better than ALL of them.

I've also found out they did performances of Ain't That Just Like Me , Very Last Day and even A Taste Of Honey. A very generous person is putting some rare BBC Hollies performances on youtube which he recorded on an old reel to reel tape. The quality isn't brilliant but you can still make out how great they are.
