I have never heard mention of Vic Steele before. I found an old web site (not official) which still has Carl Wayne as the lead singer. This site also invited people to join their petition to get The Hollies inducted into the Hall of Fame. It also did a 'family tree' and according to their information, Vic Steele was a member (gtr & vocals) through 4 different changes of personnel from 1962 until Dec 1968 and include him in their 'classic' Hollies line-up. I've had a look at the family tree on this site and I can't see his name? |

Dawn, whatever may have been the personnel before they turned professional, I guarantee you that this Vic Steele (that's got to be a stage name) was never with the band after Tony Hicks became a member.
I've heard the name, and seen it posted before. But the band never was in the studio with this Mr. Steele.
Your source here sounds like a fan's website, one that hasn't been updated in years. |

Check out this website. There's a brief mention of Vic Steele (pre-Tony) and three Hollies vintage videos .... www.nostalgiacentral.com/music/hollies.htm |

Thanks Holliesfan, it looks a good website. I found that "Guitarist Vic Steele left before the first session to be replaced by 17 year old Tony Hicks". He certainly wasn't in the group up to 1968!! I enjoyed the 'Too Much Monkey Business' video, especially when Graham Nash started singing I Feel Fine half way through and all the others jeered him! |
