Received the "Carousel" magazine christmas card this morning. With it came an advertising flyer heralding a double CD called The Midas Touch, being issued by EMI on February 22nd. No further information.

Yes, I also received a Christmas card this morning (thanks lads and Chris & Sheila) with the flyer about a new double CD. Looks a great cover in gold with gold bars.
I guess it will be another greatest hits? but it might remind those again who don't know, how great The Hollies are, especially with the comments I've been reading before the induction like "how can they induct The Hollies on the back of Long Cool Woman only" unbelievable! as if they had only made one record!

Whoever said the hollies are getting in the hall of fame on the back of one song (LCW) is obviously a typical North American (primarily U.S. residents) who never really accepted their music earlier. Consider this: Songs like Im Alive, I Cant Let Go, Yes I Will etc did poorly in the States yet such great tunes as "Hanky Panky" and "Simon Says" were big hits. For some reason they tend to forget just how many great songs the Hollies had. Maybe because they were never on Ed Sullivans show they got lost in the shuffle in the States.

My only question about the album title is that one of those 10-song greatest hits packages released stateside had the name "Midas Touch," I seem to recall.

That's right SpartyScott, but that album is not very well known, at least on this side of the pond. But it certainly appears when you search for Midas touch on Amazon, even in the UK. Never mind.

Wonderful news about the new CD compilation. I wonder if it can be pre-ordered?

Just so there's no misunderstanding, is it true that these three live recordings have definitely NOT been released before in any form?

To put it right:
So Damn Beautiful and Dolphin Days are the studio recordings. I Would Fly and the Baby are recorded live at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. I would fly is from the latest album, as we know, The baby was originally a single with Mikael Rickfors on first vocals. The two live tracks we get now are with the excellent singer Peter Howarth.

So it's a misprint in CAROUSEL then ?

What is written in Carousel is correct. But it should be read as only I would fly as a live track. The other live track is The baby.

Looking forward to seeing the track list, great to have some of these newer songs in the collection. I'll make sure I don't miss out on a copy. 2010 will be a big Hollies year

If EMI include "I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top" (1970) on "The Midas Touch" I hope EMI use the CORRECT Stereo version this time - that is WITH Acoustic guitar
