I realize that there can be no "complete" list, but a long list of artists that covered Hollies originals would be nice to have.
And even more, it would be good to have a list of artists that covered songs that the Hollies made "theirs" even if they weren't the writers or even the original performer of the song. For example, I'd want to include Linda Ronstadt for I Can't Let Go and Just One Look but I would NOT include Doris Troy since she actually has the original hit! Similarly, I'd want to include Roger Daltry's Say It Ain't So Jo.
Oh, and I wouldn't bother to list all the relatively obscure artists & songs on that Hollies tribute album, as Aimee Mann is just about the only familiar name on the album (although the Continental Drifters have a DYNAMITE version of I Can't Let Go).
So, has anyone here ever compiled a list of this sort? |

The two CSN songs - while Hollies originally - were of course FIRST issued by CSN as their recordings...indeed The Hollies' version of "Marrakesh Express" is incomplete
you can add Roger Daltrey's version of "Say it Ain't so , Jo" as you stated. |

Two other cover versions. 1-The Twilights (an Australian band from the 60s- whose lead singer went on to front The Little River Band in the 70's) recorded 'What's Wrong With The Way I Live' and " Yes I Will"
2 - The Buckinghams recorded ' I've Been Wrong Before' |

Other cover versions are Pay You Back With Interest by Paul and Barry Ryan and Keith (of 98.6 fame) recorded Tell Me To My Face. The Guess Who also covered You Know He Did though people thought they wrote it |

While I was putting together a Cinco de Mayo-themed radio show this week, by chance I came across a Spanish-language version of "Stop Stop Stop," entitled "Ya Ya Ya," by a Mexican group called Los Profetas. Got the same kind of rush as when I'd first heard the same band's Hispanic cover of the Left Banke's "I Haven't Got the Nerve" a few years back...
Edit: I just remembered ('cause they're touring this summer with Sky Saxon of the Seeds and Johnny Echols of Love and I cannot WAIT!) that the Electric Prunes covered "I've Got a Way of My Own." |

I've got that Guess Who record--the songwriter is credited as Al Ransom!!!
Edit: Speaking of Canadian covers, the Evaporators do a punkish French-language take on "Come on Back" entitled "Pouvatel," based on Ronnie Bird's '60s French version called "Ou-va-t'elle." |

Sorry to keep bringing up garage rock (semi)-obscuros, but I just remembered a fuzztastic version of "Little Lover" by an Aussie band called the Cherokees, on a comp called "Searching in the Wilderness." I have a feeling the compiler didn't know it was a Hollies track 'cause no mention of such is made in the liner notes. [According to the Garage Compilation Database a German band called the Crescents also did a song called "Little Lover," but unfortunately I don't have the comp it's on, "Too Much Monkey Business #5," to check if it's the same song we know and love...my husband evidently thought volumes 1-4 were enough!]
And contemporary garage band the Chesterfield Kings did "Look Through Any Window"...(as did the band of a certain Hicksette to end all Hicksettes! ) |

Al Ransom whose idea was that I wonder
I recently heard Ronnie Birds French version of Come On Back on a radio show called Alternative Sixties as part of three in a row of Hollies songs. It also played the original versions of Then The Heartaches Begin and Try It |
