I just saw on Swedish Ebay that the Swedish group The Nashmen(!) covered "Have You Ever Loved Somebody" in 1967.
It's on the b-side of their single "You're So Good To Me". |

The Nashmen!!! Could he have been that influential that early in the game???
Sorry to list yet another garage-rocker, but I came across a cover of "Hard Hard Year" by the Messengers, on a new Sundazed comp called "2131 South Michigan Avenue," which anthologizes the U.S.A. and Destination labels out of Chicago. |

That lead singer actually has a nice voice.
I like this version. |

Two other cover versions. 1-The Twilights (an Australian band from the 60s- whose lead singer went on to front The Little River Band in the 70's) recorded 'What's Wrong With The Way I Live' |
Glenn Shorrock is the singer concerned.
On the thread topic, Fountains of Wayne performed Bus Stop, they actually appeared as the Hollies in the TV Show American Dreams.
Here is a clip of their appearance in the show (hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this):

The full version of the song has never been officially released, but it was made available at their MySpace page. I can tell you they stayed very true to the original, which isn't surprising given that both their songwriters list the Hollies as an influence. I have that as well if anyone is interested. |
