Wow, that leaves just one question for me. The more I see live stuff by The Hollies from the 1960s or 1970s I always wonder why this stuff isn't out on DVD. It's a real shame if it would get dusty in the archives. WE WANT THAT STUFF BECAUSE IT'S GREAT!
That material from Croatia is wonderful. I like the Roger Miller song and they play it great. "Very Last Day" with banjo and no drums. It highlights their vocal harmonies. Brilliant! And I've never seen a live version of "Jennifer Eccles" from that period before and "Do The Best You Can" live. I love it !!!!!! They seemed to like banjos around the time 1966-1968. Think of all the records they made during that time with banjos ("What's wrong", "Stop Stop Stop", "Open Up Your Eyes", "Do The Best You Can" and the great B-side "Mad Professor Blythe" (although that was released in 1970)).
Thanks for sharing that stuff with us because sometimes I think youtube is all we get to enjoy Hollies live stuff (although I really would like to have it in my collection). I have enjoyed every second of it. It's hard to see any dissatisfaction on Graham's side. When you see him there on stage with the boys in 1968 you could think that he would never leave the band because he enjoys playing with them so much.
Thanks katdowl. |

Thanks Anthony and Benny It is a shame that only a couple of months Graham left, you wouldn't think so from these clips. It does seem as if he left his wife by this time though, notice the 'boo' he makes when Allan mentions Jennifer Eccles.
I would love to have this stuff on DVD too, it shows what a brilliant band they were and still are live. |

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Thank you, catdowl, for posting!
I wonder if there's more footage still left in the archives of some east european radio/TV station. What about Poland, the GDR (East Germany) and others?
The Hollies seem to have toured europe from west to east very extensively and they were great entertainers! At the end of the 60's they must have been amazingly popular - also in the far East (from Singapore, Malaysia - down to down under...). I'm eager to get to know more 60's footage like this concert in Croatia. What about Scandinavia, where they had a vast following? So, Hollies fans all over the world, keep on searching for those hidden treasures! |

Thanks again for the link, funny I was always a big fan of the Terry Sylvester years of the band, I had seen lots of clips of the earlier Nash years but this is the first time I have seen them in a special with all the banter. They are brilliant, I can not believe just how good their harmonies really were, just magic.
Like all fans I'd love a copy, maybe somebody will one day get a copy and he would be kind enough to make copies for us, much like was done some time back for one of the 69 specials.
When I see this sort of stuff, it really confirms why I'm such a fan of this wonderful band. |

Thanks for your comments everyone, by the way you can all call me Kathryn or Kat if you want to.
There is one final song from this concert though the first 40 seconds has a Croatian voice over the top of it

Do you knew where in Croatia this concert was performed?
I saved them onto my hard drive using RealPlayer, but it's not quite the same thing has an official DVD release, is it?
The only thing that I didn't like was the way Graham would continually beg for audience approval. Strange. |

Thanks so much for posting the links, Kat!!
So great to watch a live show from the 60s with banter and all! It brings back memories.
At another Hollies forum I read that this was recorded at the Split Pop Festival, 9 Augusti 1968.
If that is correct, I saw them only 12 days earlier in Vänersborg, Sweden, doing almost the same show, all wearing different coloured shirts.
I remember them doing Dang Me, and it was fantastic to see and hear it again. Stewball too.
And especially in Do The Best You Can you can hear Tony’s part of the harmony singing very clearly. Nice.
Thanks again. |

Thanks so much for these - they show a side of the Hollies that is rarely seen now (of those days), especially knowing how things panned out with Graham heading off to CS&N not long after. As I've said on a few comments on the videos, i think Bobby's drumming shines out here - he has a great natural rhythm and you can see the jazz influences coming through. So rare to find new footage like this, so we owe you big-time. |

Anyone have a guess as to the chronological order of those eight performances. |

Thanks Agneta and John for your comments. It's such a great feeling finding rare live Hollies performances, especially shows during the Nash era.

I have no idea, the only one I kind of guess is Carrie Anne, which may be their last number they did. |
