In June 2007 The Hollies played a concert for Wuerth in Germany and on the same show was Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. They all stood on the side of the stage and watched The Hollies throughout the whole of their set.
Also on the same show was 10CC with none other than Graham Gouldman.
Quite a gathering of musicians.
Here is a pic of Tony and Brian Wilson taken just before we went on stage.

Like you said Rob-What a gathering of musicians. That must have been an awesome experience. I wish I could have witnessed it. Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys have always been a total inspiration to me and it is so wonderful to know how much respect these amazing bands have for each other. Thanks for this Rob and the lovely photograph of Brian and Tony- Luv Carrie Anne x |

So Brian actually performed?
How did he sound, Rob? Did he play any instruments during the show?
And what other Beach Boys (Bruce? Al? Mike?) were on stage with Brian? |

Thanks for the photo, Rob!
Isn´t there an everlasting fight about the name Beach Boys between Brian Wilson and Mike Love? I think it´s Mike Love´s Beach Boys that will perform in Piteå, Sweden. And the only original member is Mike Love. But in can be good anyway...
Have you listened to Brian Wilsons latest cd, That lucky old sun? It´s quite good!! |

Yes, I have "That Lucky Old Sun" and it's a great solo album of his. Sounds like a brand new Beach Boys album. The harmonies come very close to the Beach Boys. And the music sounds like Beach Boys, of course.
It's a concept album like "Smile" is one. It's not as psychedelic as "Smile" but it's equally good. It's a very nice 38 minute song story around California. The album has very nice moments. Especially "Southern California" is filled with nice memories around The Beach Boys. Thanks, Brian, for this summer album 2008.
Anyone who loves The Beach Boys should own this new masterpiece. |

I´ve listened to The Lucky Old Sun a few times more and I agree, the new album is not far from a masterpiece! |

I also saw Mike Love's Beach Boys in the UK and they played for just over 3 hours (with 15 min interval) and they were absolutely fantastic and the whole night was like a big party and I hope to see them again later this year!! They sang at least 4 dozen songs and the crowd sang along too.
I've seen Brian Wilson's band as well and have to say Mike Love, BruceJ, John Cowsill, David Marks, Randell Kitch, Mike Love's son Christian etc, were better and they had the most amzing rapport with the audience... I read several reviews and a lot of people preferred these guys to BW!!!
Roll on ther next gig... and of course my Hollies gig later in the year! |
