OK, for once and for all, is there any definitive word on who played what on the Everly Brothers' album which featured, I think, seven of twelve Clarke-Hicks-Nash songs?
We've all heard how the Hollies were on "some" songs, and that John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page appeared on the album as well. But who played what? When is it Tony on lead guitar, and when is it Page?
I can tell this much - the drummer on "Somebody Help Me" does NOT sound like Bobby. I've heard enough of his stuff, especially during the era when that album was recorded, to dismiss the possibility that it's Bobby playing on that song.
And by the way, for my money that's the best song on the album.
So , how likely is it that the Hollies - sans bass player, with Jones filling in there - were the backup band for their seven songs, and other guys unrelated to the Hollies including Page did the duties on the other tracks? And would this also mean that Graham, as essentially a non-musician, isn't on the album at all?
Does anyone actually know the answers to the recording of that album? |
