Yes indeed the site has been deleted. Not by me but by the wonderful MySpace.
I have just returned from Stuttgart to find an email from them stating "Your MySpace account has been deleted for violating our Terms of Service."
I have no idea why this is nor was any warning issued that the page was in breach of anything. Just a straight deletion.
In view of the amount of hours spent on the site and the obvious lack of credibility of MySpace, I am loathe to start all over again.
I have emailed them twice alread and they can't even be bothered to answer.
I'll keep you informed.
As I was away when it all happened, can anyone shed any light as to whether some comments on the page were the obvious cause of the deletion!
I know there are millions on myspace, but I would have thought that anyone with any sense of decency would have emailed their concerns before deleting an acount.
How can they do that. ?? Not good business to me. |

That's pretty funny.
If ANYONE should be able to create a space dedicated to music groups on Myspace, who better than Rob doing one on the Hollies?
LOL, maybe the Hollies' management complained about your space, Rob. |

That's awful, how can Myspace do that? Especially without warning? I don't know of any comment on the page that may have been the cause, but I used to go to that site a lot and saw how people were enjoying the site - nothing else.
Sorry to hear this Rob, I understand you don't want to create another space, but the page will be missed by lots of people. |

I certainly don't think it is funny and comments like yours are not very helpful. |

Hi Rob,
Myspace is crazy, you did a brilliant job on your page, funny they gave you the flick for whatever reason but I still get request from seedy/porn people to join my group of friends.
As long as we have this site we shell be always happy,
many thanks,
Anthony |

I can only support Rob and this offical Hollies site on this matter. My Space must have reacted to some unknown complaint, and their routines are obviously not good enough. So we lose Hollies on MySpace which is bad for the promotion of our favourite group. How about YouTube instead, Rob? |

You could start a new account under the name "The Hollies" and use it to post TV performances and promotional films. Many groups and singers do that. |

I am still trying to get a response to my several emails.
It would appear that MySpace can just delete accounts without reason or explanation and then just ignore any correspondence. They seem uninterested in any way and downright ignorant.
This forum and the website will have to do for now as I am not going to bother with MySpace until it takes some responsibility towards its customers.
I wrote to them some time ago about a "hollies" site that was full of spam drug messages and they removed it within 12 hours.
Like Anthony said, there were lots of messages that appeared but I edited the site every day and removed all the rubbish that you see on other pages!!
As far as I know, there were none of these on our page up to the time I went to Stuttgart but the site was gone when I returned.
Perhaps someone got jealous and complained about the page.
There are lots of pages purporting to be "The Hollies" in the music section of MySpace, all with a variety of songs on them and, in reality, none of them are legal but it is the official one that has been deleted.
Strange and very annoying. |

Unfortunately, this appears to be a common symptom of the 'internet age.' A lot of these sites get so big and famous that they seem to be too eager to go on power trips, thinking that they are above the law and exempt from common decency, whilst mostly hiding behind anonymity. MySpace, YouTube and eBay are the worst culprits. It often takes just one pathetic individual with nothing better to do to file a complaint and they will pull the page/video/item just on the strength of the person's complaint without so much as even looking into it. For example I'm currently in a battle with eBay over them making a false accusation againt me. After many e-mails they basically said "Oops we made a mistake." But have they apologized? No, of course they haven't. But they will be doing, believe me! |
