OK, Hollies fans; here's my question to you: What is your pick for the Greatest Rock and Roll Record of All-Time (with the greatest guitar intro EVER)?
In all seriousness, and with much deep thought, my vote goes to the one-and-only,
LONG COOL WOMAN (IN A BLACK DRESS) by THE HOLLIES.
This incredible track rocked US radio like crazy in the summer of 1972. You couldn't escape it if you tried. And I ask you, who would want to? |

Do you mean "Hollies" only or by any band? |

Yes it would be hard to go past Long Cool Woman,
another brilliant Guiatar intro is The Air that I Breathe, but that's not a rock and roll record. |

LCW and Air are fantastic guitar intro's.My personal favourite is Gasoline Alley Bred that initial guitar is breathtaking and that made me an ardent Hollies fan. |

Love the intro to gasoline Alley Bred too. But Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) has the best rock n' roll guitar intro |

Of all time by anyone - for me the best is Day After Day by Badfinger.
From the Hollies, sure, it's gotta be LCW. I've loved that song ever since I first heard it when I was about twelve years old, wondering just what those lyrics actually were!
Honorable mention for best guitar into on a rock song would include the Guess Who's "No Time," "All Right Now" by Free.
Edit - although it's not a hit, a very tasteful electric guitar into is the Badfinger song "It's Over," with closes the near-perfect Straight Up album. I still think that it's Tommy Evans' best-ever song. |

I agree with everyone else who says that Long Cool Woman is the Rock And Roll song that has the best guitar intro and Curly Billy comes in a close second.

Now if it's non Hollies material too, the guitar into to Move It would be hard to beat. |

If it's non-Hollies, then the guitar intro to Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks would be hard to beat. Not a rock and roll record but brilliant all the way. |

My vote would go to the Beatles 'I Feel Fine' - truly one of Georges' finest riffs. |

That's cool, too, but "Long Cool Woman" still beats it in my book. |

One of the best Rock And Roll records of all time in my book is Layla-by Derek and The Dominoes and what a cracking guitar intro by Clapton. |

Don't know if Here comes the sun counts as rock'n'roll but it has a beautiful guitar intro |
