Allan Clarke was on the TOTP show last night on BBC4, albeit for only about 15 seconds. I am not sure when it was recorded (2006 I think), but he looked amazingly well... far younger than in the 80's or 90's
Like a fine wine ,he gets better with age Wink .

I've watched both episodes so far and it is a complete let-down. How can anybody devote a programme about the sixties and not mention the Hollies!

What rubbish!

Funny we talk about the Hall of fame/shame in the US, well some of the UK TV shows need to take a good hard look at themselves. Not being from the UK but I did hear from some people who lived there in the 60's that the Hollies were always on the TV, not as if they were not popular.
A few years back they had a show called sounds of the 60's, I think it was a ten part show that went for half an hour, the Hollies made it on twice with Just One Look and Sorry Suzanne.

This does sound strange, especially when you see what an impact the Hollies had on sixties music in Britain and the British Invasion. I would like to say that maybe these TV producers who make these documentatries are either catering to their own interests or what they think the audience wants to see, so that is why you see the same bands featured. Herman's Hermits, the Searchers, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and Manfred Mann had some following, and hits in the U.S. and U.K. - and the Hollies may never have scored #1 hit in the U.S. and only one in the UK - but that did not mean they were not as successful, if not more so, than these other groups.

Maybe the producers think of the Hollies as just "those 'Bus Stop' boys" and nothing more.

Also, keep in mind that the geniuses at the BBC and ITV erased much of their sixites TV shows, so we're left with only a few clips of many of these bands (way to go!).

I know I get so annoyed when they decided to wipe all those programmes due to cost cutting I wonder how guilty they feel about that now Confused At least BBC 4 did show the hollies 1969 concert last year thats one blessing.

I did also very briefly last night while watching the xmas 1967 top of the pops see our lads during the end credits that I think was taken from the Carrie Anne promo typical BBC 4 had to make it mini screen at that point! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Ahh... but The Hollies DID score a national No. 1 hit in the USA; "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" made No. 1 on the Cashbox Magazine chart, Sept. 1972.
