Some band websites have actual participation from members of the particular band, but do any members of The Hollies actually read any of our posts? All of these Happy Birthday announcements seem to be for naught when there's apparently no interest by the band members, past or present, to make any comments on anything. Just curious. |

I was wondering the same thing too, Dennis. I'm a member of several boards of this nature and there's varying degrees of participation, one where the artist communicates almost daily, another where it's the odd thing every other month. |

It would be so lovely for the lads to acknowledge some of our comments sometimes, for example birthday wishes .I think that would really make all our days.Even a little Xmas wish would go down a treat .But it's up to the lads themselves. We shouldn't put any pressure on them or whinge about it. |

To be honest I don't think any of the band members look at this site. It would be nice if we had a message from a member of the band from time to time.
I remember Carl Wayne was brilliant, he had a section to ask questions. I think as a Hollie was was the best with the fans. I have been thinking this year we have no Happy Christmas from the band members, a bit of a let down to be honest. |

Hi Anthony,
I received my Christmas card from Carousel magazine this morning, with individual Christmas wishes from the Band in it.

I'd be shocked to learn that any current or former Hollies read this site. |

I seem to recall a message from Bernie Calvert in the messagebook before this forum was initiated, wishing Clarkey good luck in retirement... |

Hi Terry!
This might be off topic, but I was wondering if you or anyone here knows how I can become a member of Carousel. I've e-mailed them, sent postcards and letters, even a stamped addressed envelope, but haven't heard from them so far.
Do you know if they accept new members? |

Hi Agneta,
They certainly accept new members - I only became one two years ago.
I don't know why they have not replied to you - the latest email is:

Thanks Terry.
I haven't tried to contact them for about six months, so I guess I'll give it another go.

Yes. On the official website of Swing Out Sister, lead singer Corinne Drewery writes periodically about the progress of their new recordings, touring, and the like. It makes a big difference when the artist actually makes contact with fans in that way. |

I got a very good reply from Carl Wayne when I asked a question on his website. I was very happy that he took the time to respond.
As for The Hollies, I think the aloofness has been present for a long, long time. It has contributed to the lack of a strong fan base for the band, I'm convinced of it. You don't amass fans by doing nothing, especially now with the internet. I'm a fan of The New Cars (with Todd Rundgren), and their website is very fan-friendly and encourages participation, with photos and everything. It's very well-organized. |

Do any of the Hollies even own or have access to a computer? The reason for their lack of participation may be found there. |

I'd be incredibly surprised if they didn't have access to a PC! |

Just want to say that I sent an email, and the next day I got a reply from Sheila Bowen saying that she'd put an application form in the post for me, along with the Hollies Christmas card!
