I still think "Purple Rain" was a poor choice of material for them to cover. Are there ANY Hollies fans who can honestly say they are also fans of Prince? I sure am not.

But surely you don't have to be a fan of someone to like one of their records.

There are many bands I'm not too keen on but I can still appreciate some of their songs.

Purple Rain was a great live song with great guitar.

Well, yes, I've always felt that even the WORST artists can have a song or two I like. But Prince? I admit I sort of liked "1999" back in the '80s. I just brought it up on YouTube, but couldn't get through it; a waste of time. I guess Prince is one of the exceptions. No dice.

Geoff,

If it's called Rockin With The Hollies pry the tapes of Stockholm '66 out of Bobby's hands and but You Don't Know Like I Know on it! That is rock and roll with Graham screaming it out.

Wasn't the 1967 Italian single "Kill Me Quick" originally released without harmonies?

That original release would be be a great addition.

Of the four Italy-only tracks, "Devi Avere Fiducia In Me" (whatever that translates to, I still don't know) is my favorite. A good stereo mix of that one would be welcome.

Yes, I agree. We need rarities. Those previously released tracks we already have. Some unreleased stuff in better-than-bootleg quality, such as the Aussie 1970 special with their rocking rendition of "Woodstock" would be very nice to hear. "Only Love Can Break Your Heart", "Amazing Grace" (both of which remained in the set list during the live Rickfors shows), "Blood Red Roses", "Dear Oak Tree", and their knockout version of "Let It Be" should be found and released. Moreover, where's the video of that TV show?

I heard this recently. To be honest, Mainz is far afore this concert, and has a much more interesting set list. Gasoline Alley Bred on the Irvine setlist is probably the most interesting item in my opinion.

The Purple show featuring A whiter shade of pale is also great. deserves official release! The good point is that you hear Allan with a great voice, and the sound is about perfect.
