Just heard Bus Stop on TWO FM (southern Irish radio station). Nice to hear a classic like this out of the blue! Also Just One Look has been used by the Northern Ireland Government in their drink -drive campaign for quite some time. It's sung by a girl and slowed down considerably(which is a pity), but it has introduced the song to the younger generation and more importantly saved lives! |

It's used in the Republic too. A lot of the road safety ads seemed to be made jointly by the North and South and altered slighlty with dubbing and number plates for the different countries. |

Hey, my people on my mom's side of the family are from Donegal (wherever that is), but you have to go back to the late 1700's to find any of them who weren't in America. "We" settled originally in Virginia.
LOL, if anyone here knows anyone from Donehal whose last name is Daugherty (or something spelled much like it), then they're probably a distant cousin of mine! |

The name is probably spelt Doherty and Donegal is a nice part of the country, but it does rain alot! Haven't us Irish spread our seed throughout the world. Now ,I'm having a thought (Lennon and McCartney both had Irish roots), I wonder were there any O'Nashs or O'Clarkies or, well I think you get the picture! |

In a vain attempt to keep away from the tin of Quality street lurking beside the sofa ,I decided to look up the name Clarke to find it's meaning and origins (I as yet can't unwrap a sweet and type at the same time ) .I was curious as to why everytime I visit my sister-in-law in County Cavan I'm bombarded with the name Clarke on shop fronts ,vans etc. And sure enough ,even though it is English in origin, it is one of the oldest surnames in Ireland and is most prevalent in Co.Cavan.The name means "scholar "or "one who can read and write".Those people who could read and write in bygone days were probably clerics. The letters" er "came to be pronounced "ar" and thus cleric became claric and then Clarke. So maybe our dear Allan has Irish roots after all .But I think the meaning of Clarke should be "one who can sing and write great songs"or "one who is a handsome devil" . |

I have great news, as well.
On the German radio station HR 1 there is a hitparade every Sunday. People can vote for their favourite songs and the Top 20 will be on the show. The Hollies were NUMBER 2 with my favourite song of theirs "Bus Stop". |
