We adopted a child last November from Ukraine (which is going fabulously for us, in case anyone is interested), and yesterday I realized that my wife had probably never heard the Hollies song "Find Me A Family."
So, this morning I put it on the CD player. She got all misty-eyed.
Mission accomplished! |

Congrats on two fronts...bringing a tear to your wife's eye (Find Me A Family can do that to a person) and of course, adopting a child..BRAVO! |

It is a very emotional song and it was issued as a single but didn't do well. |

Hi all,
Find me a family is such a beautiful song, it brings a lovely soft side to Allan's voice, the Hollies also sang another song about adoption I'm Down.
When I first heard this song on the Abbey Rd collection I was just blown away.
If I'm right the B side was No Rules, I think that's a brilliant number too.
I think the Hollies don't get enough credit for the wonderful songs they had in the 80's and 90's, we always seems to remember the classics from the 60's and 70's. |

Hi Sparty Scott (and everybody else)! Happy New Year!
I've been wanting to hear Find Me A Family since I read what you wrote here, and now I finally have. (I got The Long Road Home for Christmas.)
It's a wonderful song, and I can easily understand your wife. Although I've never adopted, and my girls are teenagers, it still brought tears to my eyes.
I agree with Anthony that Allans voice sounds really soft.
What I can't understand is why it never made the charts! |

Thanks for the post, Agneta.
It's a lovely song, and I'm glad that you discovered it and it's now a part of your music collection. |

For anyone who cares, it looks like the wife and I will be heading back to Eastern Europe for adoption #2. And yes, this'll be the last.
This time, we're going to Russia, in an area called Rostov, near the Sea of Azov (near the Ukrainian border).
We'll be absolutely broke, but we'll be a happy family. |

Scott ... May God abundantly bless you and your wife for the effort you put forth to give these children a caring, loving home and family. Certainly you two have responded beautifully to the call of "Find Me A Family'. I think the song would serve as a great theme song for any/all U.S. Adoption Agencies and one they should strive to "adopt". I can visualize the Hollies performing the song at a National Convention! Now that would be super. |

Sparty, congratulations to you and your wife. I know you are thrilled -- been there, done that (twice!). Our first child is from Brazil, and our second is from Ecuador. (And #3 was a surprise from the stork )
Anyway, good luck and I hope you'll keep us posted! |
