My favorite LP from each of the classic lineups:

1964-6 (Nash, Clarke, Hicks, Haydock, Elliott)
"Would You Believe"
1966-8 (Nash, Clarke, Hicks, Calvert, Elliott)
"Butterfly"
1969-71 (Clarke, Hicks, Sylvester, Calvert, Elliott)*
"Distant Light"
1972-3 (Hicks, Sylvester, Rickfors, Calvert, Elliott)
"Romany"
1974-81 (same as *)
"Hollies"

Hey, I could have written that list myself. I've got the same faves.
The only exception is the album from that first era with Eric Haydock. I tend to like the third album "The Hollies" more than its follow-up album "Would You Believe". But I agree completely to the following albums.

I would have chosen the US version of "Hollies" ('65) over the UK LP, since it (titled "Hear! Here!") has "Look Through Any Window" and "I'm Alive" instead of "Fortune Teller" and "Mickey's Monkey". But since I was referring to the UK LPs, I still favor "Would You Believe" for such wonderful tracks as the opener "I Take What I Want" (I think this was a cover of a soul tune, by Sam & Dave perhaps?), their fabulous arrangement of "I Am A Rock" (which blows Simon & Garfunkel's version out of the water), and the great Clint Ballard tune "Don't You Even Care". Oh yes, and the harmony-rich "Stewball". Wasn't that a hit in Sweden?

Oops, my mistake. I originally listed "Out On The Road" as my fave LP with Rickfors. No, no, no. It's "Romany" (the US version).
