www.mikaelrickfors.com is now online. Mikael says on the site that he is back in the recording studio with new songs, and there will hopefully be a new release in the fall. You can hear one of his tunes, “Radio Days”, in the “Mr. Jukebox” section of the website. |

Thanks for the info, snowflake. Nice website. All we need is an appearance or three outside Scandinavia. |

Yes, James, I was hoping for that too! Judging by his tour schedule, I guess that won't happen for a while, though. |

Yeah, looks like that. Unfortunately Scandinavia is very expensive for us Brits to visit. My visit to Norway last August was great; lovely country and people however, £35 for five drinks and £2.50 for a Twix is a bit excessive! (Not that I survived on just alcohol and junk food, I should point out!). |

Sounds like you had a great time, James. At least Scandinavia is a bit closer for you than for us in the U.S.! |

Not that the UK is very much cheaper than Scandinavia, I have to say! The pound is pretty strong, you know. Stand up, those who think a pint is cheap in England these days, please.
I am saving for the trip to Nottingham very shortly. |

Just a lead item on the news today - the £ is at it's strongest against the $ in 15 years! |

Why did he leave The Hollies? |

He was "asked" to depart, because Clarke's solo career fizzled and the Hollies' weren't exactly packin' 'em in, either. So both sides needed Clarke in the Hollies. That left Rickfors on the outside looking in.
A little revisionist history has suggested that Rickfors was somehow glad to leave, but how can anyone believe that?
That's not the greatest episode in the band's history. |

It would be nice to hear Mikael's side of the story, but I get the feeling he's silent for good reason. No matter; The Hollies were superb with Rickfors, in the studio and in concert. No amount of bantering back and forth about the whys and whynots about the situation can change that. 1972 will always be my favorite year of The Hollies. |

Read the short review of "Romany", in Discography. Spot on! I couldn't agree more. |

Yes, Dennis, I’m in total agreement; the Romany review quoted in Mikael’s discography sums it up well. And the website’s layout is really professionally done (that opening photo is awesome!).
What a new, fresh sound on “Radio Days”. Mr. Rickfors reinvents himself – yet again! |

The Hollies seldom "packed them in" with Clarke, either, in the US, apart from the small clubs they usually played in their rare US visits. The Hollies never developed a strong fan following in the US because they just didn't tour enough. Compare them with The Kinks, who toured the US consistently during the 1970s. The Kinks developed a strong following by putting themselves in front of the American public even when their record sales weren't great. During their RCA period, they had no hits at all (aside from some FM radio play for "Celluloid Heroes"), but toured the US every year anyway. I know; I saw them many times. |
