Here's a novel idea. How about extending an invitation to Bernie Calvert and Terry Sylvester to the next Hollies convention? I'm sure the fans would love to chat it up with them and get a few collectibles autographed. |

Hi Holliesfan,
I know that Terry Sylvester did a Hollies convention in the US a few years back, Robin Baker put it together. She was apart of a US Hollies site but sad to say it's off line now. Great idea a few old Hollies at these shows,
Bye,

That would be a brilliant idea! The other Hollies have slunk (is that a word?) into the background a lot even though there's loads of fans who want to know how they are, what they're up to, tell them how much they've enjoyed their music, get their autograph and a photo... OK, I know I'm not the only one who'd like to meet them!! |

Hi Anthony - Not to take anything away from Robin Baker, but I was the chief coordinator of that US Hollies convention. Robin's help was invaluable in making it the success it was. And yes, Terry Sylvester was my special guest at that event. What I'd now like to see is Terry and Bernie getting invited to the next UK convention. Sad to say, my US convention was the first(to my knowledge) of it's kind dedicated solely to the Hollies. However, I've chosen not to tackle the logistics that go along with setting up and hosting another one. Putting it simply, that event is now just another memory logged into my memory bank. |

Hi Holliesfan,
Oh well I got some of it right, sorry. From what I have heard and this could be wrong too, Terry has had a fall out with one of his old band members and maybe not feel too welcome. Looking at his web site he seems to have fond thoughts about his time with the band. I always loved the Sylvester years. Did you get a big turn our for your US convention?
I have been apart of conventions in Melbourne and the largest turn out has been three and no Hollie so I would imagine you beat that. I always thought quality not quantity was important and the fact we could not find more Hollies fans played a part.
Bye for now,
Anthony |

It would be nice if Terry and Bernie were invited to the next Hollies Convention, afterall they were a great part of the band being members for 12 years (Terry) and 15 years (Bernie). I read in a pop music book that Terry had an argument with the other band members which led to him leaving the group, but that was almost 23 years ago so I think he should have been forgiven by now. It would also be nice if Allan, Graham and Eric got invited to the next convention as well |

Hi Peej,
Look, next time you meet up with Spev, why don't you make it a Hollies convention. You could have a few drinks and talk about the band, then ZAP you have your first Mini Hollies convention.
Give it a go I'm sure you will enjoy it,
Bye for now,
Anthony |

Hi Anthony,
Well we kinda had a very mini convention yesterday- we watched their DVD- interesting video for Do the Best You Can!
We ended up having a Randall and Hopkirk convention instead!

Terry said in a 1974 interview that he thought the hollies would carry on until around 79. I often wonder if he had made up his mind to leave long before he actually did. I certainly can't imagine him flying over from Canada for a convention. Let's face it he dosen't even tour the UK.

Well unless Terry or Graham were in the neighbourhopod, I don't see them popping over for an afternoon but surely Bernie and Allan for example could be invited along! |
