Being a big Mud fan in the 1970s, I, too, was sad to read of the death of Dave Mount on 2nd December - it was not reported in the British press until 6th January, when an obituary appeared in the 'Telegraph'.
He joined Mud in March 1968 as the group turned professional and notably co-wrote the album tracks "Hair Of The Dog" (1975) and "How Many Times" (1976) - the latter a collaboration with the late Alan Blakely of Tremeloes fame.
After leaving the music business Dave worked as a fitted kitchen salesman and later gained professional qualifications as an insurance salesman for the CIS.
His sad, untimely, passing leaves just Ray Stiles and Rob Davis from this much underrated group of the 1970s. Fifteen British chart hits in four years was quite an achievement. |
