Hi Hollies fans out there,

is it true that after "Out On The Road" Magic Records will release "Russian Roulette" and "5317704" on October, 30 ?

If that is true, could anybody tell me whether there will be bonus tracks on it ?

It would be exciting to find "C'mon", "Crossfire" or "Corrine" on the "Russian Roulette" C.D. because these tracks are from 1976/77, as well.

Perhaps it will just be a matter of time when Magic Records will also release "A Crazy Steal" and "Buddy Holly" and maybe a collection of 80s and 90s singles B-sides.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT! Very Happy

That's great news. C'mon is an excellent if silly track IMHO.

I couldn't find 5317704 on the Magic Records website, as well. But on Amazon 5317704 will be available on 1 CD from October 30 just like "Russian Roulette".
Does that mean that it will be released on another label (although I don't think so) ? That would be strange because 531 is one of the LPs that has not been released yet on Magic Records and both are released on the same day according to Amazon.

What bonus tracks could be on it ? The only 1978/79 tracks I could think of are "Sanctuary" and "Lovin You Ain't Easy". Both were recorded for the LP but did not make it on the LP (I think so, at least). No specific single B-sides were released during that time. But "Crossfire" still has to make it on CD (although I don't think that this track would fit onto the 531 CD. I thought it would make it on the "Russian Roulette" CD because it is closer to that rock, funk and disco type of music but it is not on it.
But the 1980 Mike Batt songs "Soldier's Song" and "Can't Lie No More" could be on it and would fit to the rest of the 531 album, I think.

The bonus track question is always exciting, I think.

I think 5317704 will probably be released by Magic, although maybe not on Oct 30th. Also, what's happened to A Crazy Steal? Hope that one is getting reissued too. Need to play these albums again, haven't listened to them in ages.

Oh, well, you didn't ? Especially 5317704 is great, I think. "When I'm Yours" is very nice with a great guitar solo by Tony. Don't need to mention "It's In Everyone Of Us", I think.

You got my vote! Beautiful track, even the Murray Head original shines.

Got both of these from Amazon.co.uk. I wouldn't say the sonic quality is any different from the Four Originals releases, but 5317704 does feature a transparent digipak tray which enables all the lyrics to be included. 5317704 really is a superb album. I wonder why A Crazy Steal has been skipped over?

HI James,

5317704 really is a great album. It is their best album released after 1976, I think.
I'm sure that "A Crazy Steal" will follow up. It would make no sense to leave it out and I wondered why "Crossfire" could neither be found on "Russian Roulette" nor on "5317704" as bonus track. It is obvious that Magic Records has left it out for a future release of "A Crazy Steal". It would fit in there because "Crossfire" was the B-side of "Amnesty", as far as I know.
All in all, it would make no sense to leave one 70s album and one 70s track out of their catalogue. With such great tunes as "Writing On The Wall", "Hello To Romance", "Amnesty", "Clown Service" (yes, I like that one indeed) and "Feet On The Ground" "A Crazy Steal" MUST be released someday on Magic.
1976's "Write On" was released in 1999 by Magic Records and "Russian Roulette" as a follow-up album of the same year was released in 2006 by Magic Records. That shows that it really takes time for Magic Records to release all the Hollies albums but time will come for all of them, also for "Buddy Holly", I think.
I just hope that Magic Records will release a special CD with all the 1980s and 1990s single A-sides and especially the rare B-sides. It would make the Hollies CD catalogue complete on Magic Records. It would be a really good idea, I think because it is quite difficult to complete the Hollies collection at home with those rare single B-sides.

Yes, A Crazy Steal and 5317704 are two of my favourite 70's albums by the band.

Well, not quite. There's still a bunch of good stuff out there in the vaults not available on CD.

Even on Magic´s release of 5317704 there´s still no composer to Lovin´ you ain´t easy.

Who wrote this song?? I would appreciate an answer.
