I, for one think he is amazing!!! |
I second that!
He is brilliant and amazing.
As I have said before if The Hollies didn't think he was good enough then they would not have asked him to join the band not once but twice, would they??????
I think some people need to try to remember that. |

I've not heard this before. |

Peter mentoined it in one of his radio interviews.
Apparently they asked him to join them before they asked Carl Wayne but he was busy with other projects.
It was discussed in a a previous post on the forum.
All I can say is thank god he was free this time! |

Yes he said 'Contractually he couldn't do it when first asked'.
I'm glad he was free this time too Carol.

Let's not forget the correct number of Hollies lead singers:
1) Allan Clarke
2) Mikael Rickfors
3) Carl Wayne
4) Peter Howarth
Now I don't want anyone to get it wrong again. |

What about that other bloke who filled in when Carl was sick? Anybody ever see him live? And then John Miles filled in for Clarkey too? |

That other bloke was called Ian Harrison, I think. I saw him at Clumber Park - he didn't look the part- much too young with a sort of punk hair style! I must admit the sound wasn't too great that night (perhaps because I was right in front of some speakers), but Ian did okay with the vocals.
I also saw John Miles, which I mentioned in another thread. He was excellent, especially since they must have only had a couple of days to rehearse. |

Ian Harrison stood in when Carl was ill. I saw him at Clumber Park a couple of years ago and he did a good job.
I remember a post to the forum from Sleepy Joe with a link to his website and there were clips of Ian singing Here I Go Again and Yes I Will from that concert. |

I think only the ones who actually recorded with The Hollies should count, even if Carl Wayne only did the one track. |

Yes, just curious on others' opinions on Ian and John. |

I'd have an easier time with Howarth if he didn't look so much like a young Chris DeBurgh. I'd rather listen to "Air Supply" than STAYING POWER. |

Can't see the resemblance myself between Peter and Chris. |

While the subject is lead singers in The Hollies, let's not forget that all of the following have done lead vocals at one time or another with the band, and all have lived up to The Hollies' standards:
Graham Nash
Allan Clarke
Tony Hicks
Terry Sylvester
Mikael Rickfors
Carl Wayne
Peter Howarth |

...plus John Miles and Ian Harrison
Has Bobby not done some kind of spoken thing which has not been released? Maybe that could be counted as lead vocals? If this does exist, hopefully it wont be as ermmm dismal as Keith Moon's 'The Other Side of the Moon'! |

"Bobby's Prologue". Whether it's as dismal as "The Other Side of the Moon", James, we will never know. |
