Sad news. Just heard that Gene Pitney has died today. He was on a UK tour.
He was another of my favourite singers from the 60s.
RIP Gene. |

That is terrible news - I was just reading about him in the newspaper at the weekend. |

These are indeed sad news! Only recently I watched a documentary about him, also with some newer interviews - he seemed healthy to me. |

Gene Pitney was a very gifted singer. He had a very unique voice. He was also a hit songwriter, something that tends to be forgotten. I remember a Ready Steady Go that had him and Dusty Springfield on together. A sped-up version of "24 Hours From Tulsa" was used in a contest to see if a contestant could tell if it was Gene's hit version or Dusty's cover. It turned out to be Dusty's. Both of their versions were great. It was fun to see those two marvelous singers together, laughing and enjoying the moment. |

Yes, I heard the news too, and he was another 60's icon I adored. I saw Gene in Adelaide twice!
So I have worn black for the last few days, I wore black for two weeks when Carl died.
Rest in peace dear Gene. Condolences to Lynne and the boys.
Love Christine |

I was stunned when I heard about Gene's untimely passing. He was one of the greatest singers ever. To die suddenly like that so I think he must of had a heart attack or maybe a stroke.
My Gene rest in peace for all eternity.
My sincere condolances got to Genes wife and family.
Love Susie |
