Yes. And don't forget the importance of "Freedom of Speech", especially in the oppressive times we're living in right now.
A 19-year old who knows The Hollies music, past and present? We should all be applauding him. Exclamation

In an effort to redirect our attention to this tread's main topic "Staying Power" can anyone confirm that the album has been released in Canada? I've heard it's so. If that be the case can the US be next in the queue...asking with fingers crossed.. Very Happy

I bought Staying Power almost 3 weeks ago and have played at least a dozen times. It is in my opinion one of the best albums The Hollies (past or Present) have ever recorded and I like every song on it. Very Happy

My favourite songs are Hope, So Damn Beautiful, Suspended Animation and Emotions. Smile

My rating for the album is 10 out of 10. Very Happy

Susie

James...an old philosophy you may remember and agree with, seems appropriate here:

"The reasonable person looks at the world and considers how he or she must adapt to it. An unreasonable person looks at the world and contemplates how the world must change to suit him or her.

Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable person..." Wink

I've certainly heard of him and have heard some of his stories and general chat with regard to Carl and the Follies but, no, we don't get a lot of his broadcasts on the west side of the Pond, lol.

Brandy,

Y'know, you can edit old posts to fix typos.

Yes, I didn't notice that feature at first, either.

I thought the following was a superbly candid review of "Staying Power". [It appears in the album review section on the Amazon.co.uk website.] I think it sums up alot of what's been said in this forum to date. It truly strikes a nice balance between both the past and present makeup of the Hollies. In my humble opinion, it sums it up once and for all. And yes, it is 2006.. Very Happy. I for one look forward to the next album with great anticipation.

"I have been a Hollies fan since the early seventies and I approached Staying Power with some trepidation. I am pleased to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the album, it is a great contemporary pop album. However, those looking for the recognisable Hollies sound of 1963 to 74, will be disappointed. I noticed that some of the negative reviews have criticised the band for not sounding like they used to, and that they should have folded when Allan Clarke - Clarke's voice had gone in the mid nineties and why he continued was beyond me. Nostalgia is not as objective as reality !! For those who want The Hollies to sound as the did over thirty years ago, stick to the nostalgia of the hits albums. As for me, I live in 2006 and So Damn Beautiful, Let love pass and Live it up are all I could have wished for from the boys. The Hollies have produced a very good album of contemporary songs that in a fairer world, could be top ten hits. If you are a Hollies fan, take a chance on this album, you wont get I cant let go or Just one look, but you will get a wonderfully enjoyable album. "

I hope that you don't hold your breath waiting, Dennis. I for one will be shocked if the CD gets a U.S. release.

I just bought my copy through the U.K. Amazon site. The disc arrived in only about a week.

I've only played the disc once, and had a three year old distracting me thoughout, so I wasn't able to give it the attention that it deserves. Oh well, maybe tonigth I'll try again!

Why should you be "shocked" if it gets a US release? The "Greatest Hits" 2 CD set came out in the US; why not the new one? I think it is entirely within reason that "Staying Power" could see a US issue. I actually would be surprised if it DOESN'T get released here. I imagine it won't come out until at least June.

How do release dates work? I was always under the impression that a UK release (for example) would result in a simultaneous release date in another country. Is that not the case? If not, when can one expect a US release date if in fact it happens at all?
