I recently e-mailed a major New York classic rock station to see if they would air "So Damn Beautiful". Following is my original e-mail and the Program Director's reply. Thought you might like to see how one US station views The Hollies..."marginal"???
***********************
Hey Alan,
It's unlikely we'd be able to play something new from the Hollies. We are very conservative about what new product we play and the Hollies being a marginal band (we really only play Long Cool Woman regularly) for us to begin with makes it difficult. I'll pass along your block though and we'll see what we can do for you. Thanks for writing and for listening to the Q!

Subject: Music Question from a listener
Hi Eric,
I would like to have a Workforce Block of The Hollies played on Q104.3. All the songs I plan to request are available on CD or album except for one. In February 2006, The Hollies(two original members) released a new studio album "Staying Power". The single release from this import album is "So Damn Beautiful". I recently purchased a two song CD containing this track. If I were to send it to the station would it be possible to include it in a Hollies workforce block?
I see my block running as follows;
1. Bus Stop
2. Sandy (Asbury Park 4th of July)
3. When Your Lights Turned On
4. You Need Love
5. Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)
6. So Damn Beautiful |

Well done, you can only try. When the Hollies were in their 40th year Kathy and myself wrote off to a few TV stations and asked them if they would play any specials they had on the Hollies.
It's hard to get people interested in bands that started in the 60's these days, the only band you hear about is The Stones and Paul McCartney as a solo singer. |

And when he appears on the TV, Macca still thinks he's 19 - it's quite embarrassing at times. Must be all the money going to his head |

It really is an achievement that The Hollies are still going and the media should make the effort and promote them as one of the last 1960's bands touring or be it with 2 orginal members. |
